But they are different, so different that the marriage would be completely different if we actually did have to go to a cabbage patch to pick out our children.

What the heck? This is one of the most bizarre ever attempts at an analogy that I've ever seen.

If people could not get children unless they knowingly, and purposey went to a place to get their children, fill out the paper work, go thru the legal hassles, before they could get a baby. Then governments would not support or endorse them until after they committed to have kids, applied for, and received their kids.

But men and women make babies even when they don't want to, even if they did not plan to, or thought they were medically incapable of having kids. This is why governments and society promote, endorse, and encourage their sexually active citizens to get married.

Two gay men will not accidentally make a kid, that neither one was expecting. They won't come home to a spontaneous baby at their doorstep. So the only way gay and lesbian couples should receive government endorsement, tax deductions, subsides, etc... is after they adopt.

Maleness and femaleness are animal traits.

Humans are above all that.

I think the opposition to legal same-sex marriage is crumbling. Or, to quote George Will: "literally dying."

I predict marriage equality will be nation-wide in the next 10 years or so.
