And that's not all. Even resume manuals tell you to "enhance" the tasks of a previous job through the terms used to describe it. By the time the resume is put together, it's not a plain old, rather dull job, but something which sounds as if it held the importance of the president's job.
That's why starting tomorrow, I will not be too impressed with a resume until I meet the person.
Our company did just that. They created a job for someone who interned for us over two summers while getting his degree. He is extremely bright, very willing, and has an excellent attitude. Now, after completing his degree this past December, he has a good paying job, and a future (if he wants it) with a company that will never go out of business.
You gotta reach out and grab that brass ring as it goes by, otherwise it'll just keep going by.
yes employment at will is ruthless and unfair.
too bad we got rid of unions bek we knew they were useless. we knew that if we worked hard and were honest the government and the boss would treat us well, remember?
No, it is amazing the amount of lazy BS the lefties cry!
I have my own business, as does my husband. It is NOT easy - but then again we believe in receiving what we work for and not standing like lazy idiots with our hands out expecting government to take from someone else and give to us.
Make your own destiny and stop trying to steal other's.
In a true society you would be held responsible for keeping people out of work and turning everyone down for no reason.

Employment at will is ruthless and unfair because corporations are allowed to do any damned thing they want, any damned time they want, however the hell they want.

Is this sarcastic? You can't really believe that someone should be held responsible for not hiring anyone. I mean held responsible if they didn't hire a particular person for discriminatory reasons, sure, but just for not hiring at all? How could you possibly justify that?
Discriminatory reasons are an even bigger problem. I have aspergers. If I was to tell an employer this at an interview they could already decide in their mind that they don't want to hire me, even though I am fully capable of doing the job. But they don't say it's because of my condition. There is nothing stopping them from saying they hired someone else. They get away with breaking the law.

Thanks for sharing that. I know a couple of people with Aspergers - one is in my immediate family.
