Thanks. I will read your links and agree with your other statement.
{edit} I read the links and I have to admit that I do not know the rules of the water but I most certainly see your point here. Thanks. Hopefully if cleaned up I can learn a little more from this thread.
There was a political shift in the late 1960's - early 1970's, however just as the Democratic Party of then bears little resemblance to the the Dem Party of the today, the same applies to the respective Republican Party's of the era.
If I conflate the two, it is only is only in response to the misguided and vicious tactics of liberals on this forum, who mistakenly believe just what you earlier claimed.
This is what you posted in post #4

Yep -pre 1900's(and through the early 1900's) was Jim Crow - which was supported by Democrats.
It was a jab at democrats. Again.... all southerners didn't pack up and leave after Jim Crow was repealed. Southern Democrats become Republicans. I am not suggesting that all Republicans are racist or want Jim Crow back just pointing out that fact which flies in the face of your little jab there.
I'm done with this topic on this thread... I agree with SETI that this topic has been derailed.
It is a current controversy. Post 911 sealed the deal that USCG can retain those early 19th century rights. Who wants to go out boating on your $300k yacht to be told to pull over with absolutely no probable cause.
I hear they don't care about alcohol or DFG fish sizes, but will call in local authorities. They WILL arrest you if you have medical marijuana even in California waters.
Avoid navigable waters if you value your freedom to boat in piece, also give harbor patrol a hard time because complacent boaters forget they are not a federal department.
This all about smoking dope? heres a tip. Dont smoke dope, not if you own a 300K vessel or a $1,500 lowrider, cops dont like dope.
Back when the US was going broke to pay for the revolutionary war, congress passed an act all vessels entering US waters could be boarded and searched for tax evasion. 200+ years later, the US Coast Guard, now part of DHS, does the same thing to American recreational boaters. Two choices when hailed by a USCG Cutter or the like, let them search, or get searched. Guns are always involved. Fourth Amendment rights don't even apply to houseboat docked in a marina. The USCG has the right to break in and tear apart your home; unheard of for RVs, homes, and cars.
Drug runners are not "recreational boaters!"
Why don't you post some links to some of these things? Have any?
That is odd, because I am a registered Republican and am an advocate of civil rights and would have been an active abolitionist had I been around when the Republican Party had been founded.
So are and would have been practically every Republican that I know.
You have apparently been brainwashed by your Democratic brethren, who are rightfully ashamed by their party's racist past, and feel like all they can do is wrongly project their guilt and shame onto their political opponents who truly are the party of Lincoln and whom are the ones that secured abolition of slavery and civil rights in the face of Democratic Party opposition.
How pathetic.
Here, here! I wonder why these idiots think that Republicans are no longer "The Party of Lincoln." We have a few RINO's, but I don't think the Party's primary beliefs have changed, and contrary to what the liberals claim, we do believe in civil rights, do not intend to put anybody "back in chains" (thank you very much, Joe), and we still believe in limited government. Also, unlike the Democrats, we still believe in Liberty!
The Democrat Party has become the Socialist Party of America.
I'm not sure what the issue is here. During the Revolutionary War there was no 4th Amendment Rights. They were not ratified until 1791. The war ended in 1783.
I'm so confused. I thought based on this particular section of CD that everything pre-1900s was the best, en vouge, da beez kneez.
That's what happens when "You're a Republican" becomes a sufficient counterargument to fully rebut anything a conservative says. You stop critical thinking. You start thinking in terms of stereotypes and rhetoric.
Note I'm not actually accusing dmoneyboomboom of this. I know he was being sarcastic. Just using it as an opportunity to make a general point which applies to both sides of the aisle.
