Doctors undergo extensive training. Maybe you would prefer a less trained person tending to your medical needs.

Few doctors go into medicine "just to make money", but I don't see any other profession that offers their services for free, or any professional degreed persons who do not wish to capitalize on their training. Why should doctors not be expected to make money like every other person who works for a living?

Dollars to donuts you don't work for nothing. Wonder why you thinks others should?

They are over-compensated in my opinion. Not the family practitioners as much as the specialists. The specialists in Canada make substantially less, and they are no less knowledgeable or talented. In fact a way to ensure more smart empathetic compassionate doctors instead of just smart greedy people would be to not allow physician's salaries to be so high. I know many people who went into medicine just because they were smart and greedy, and they're not good doctors.

"Over-compensated"?

Why do you moan about physicians and give professional athletes and Hollywood actors a pass? Just what do these entertainment types contribute to society that outweighs the contributions of a specialist who can replace a hip/knee joint, remove a malignant organ, or perform lifesaving open heart surgery? Most times the celebrity actors and celebrity athlete dwarf the income of physicians.

It's odd that you pick doctors to complain about their salaries being too high.

Next time you really get sick or have a life-threatening ailment,...get in the phone book and shop around for the lowest paid doctor and then go to him for treatment.

Yeah but there are a lot more doctors than athletes or high-paid actors. Why wouldn't you want to reduce medical costs?

In your eyes physicians cause high medical costs?

Let me ask you why some antibiotics are almost $22 a pill" Why do hospitals charge $5-$10 for a single Advil? Why does a hospital room cost as much as a night's stay in a luxury hotel?

Medical costs wouldn't be this high had the government not gotten involved in price fixing and HMOs during the '60s and 70s. Do the research,...medical costs began climbing with the passage of the Medicare legislation.

You blame the physicians for the high medical costs without considering the other players on the field. Why blame physicians, who are nothing more than entrepreneurs who help drive the economy?

I sounds like you have a axe to grind with doctors. Like I said,...the next time you are seriously ill, please shop around for the lowest paid doctor in your area.

There is no evidence that western medicine can cure cancer.

Some people are cured. But you can't find a link to western medicine.

Otherwise we wouldn't need all these cancer cure research hospitals.

People have been cured without seeking medical treatment. They didn't use insurance and didn't pay for treatment in advance but were still cured.

Hell, read the wavier you have to sign before taking chemo. It tells you it can cause cancer and death. What the hell kinda cure is that?

No-

But I certainly did not go into medicine to go broke either. I have $850K of overhead per year. I find it amusing that the public seems to ignore overhead costs and assumes that everything we collect for services is profit.

Are you aware of any other business/profession which strives to achieve bankruptcy?

Most people think if your'e a doctor or own a business you have a magic ATM that just pumps out money for you free of charge.

And when I say "most people" I mean retards. And liberals. But I repeat myself.
