Ask all those NFL/NBA players who thought they would never have to work their lives and blew through all their millions how happy they are? Maybe wait until the kid is old enough to decide what HE wants to do instead of making him your little bank account? That too much to ask of a parent? I guess so.

A few million? I take it you've never seen VH1's Behind the Music with TLC? You know the top selling girl group that ended up in bankruptcy? They broke down how they ended up bankrupt pretty nicely.

Maybe he could send his son to a few money managing classes.

The kid is having fun right now, he's making money and if he waits until 18 it's quite possible the ship has sailed. Singing about selling drugs is basically lying for money (I don't think he's actually selling drugs). Who really cares? By the time he turns 18 he can decide what he wants to do, and he'll have a whole lot of money that will open up far more doors for him.

And most athletes/entertainers end up fine for the rest of their life. They might have to tone it down a bit but they're not slaving away like 90% of Americans.

More money = more freedom. What parent wouldn't want his kid to be more free?

See you think folks who aren't millionaires are "slaving away". Many are perfectly content in their lives. If your happy then you don't need to be told how much money you need to be happy. Obvioulsy the parents have bought into your mentality and are using their child to try and reach their dreams. Many do it. Doesn't make it right. Many push those very athletes we were talking about the same way. By the time he turns 18? If he ever "makes it" he'll be another washed out child star strung out on drugs most likley. Way to go mom and dad but hey you got YOUR mansion YOUR happy.

The NFL has required financial literacy classes for rookies. Still 60-70% end up bankrupt within 5 years of retirement.

So would you say the same thing to parents who 'force' their kids to do good in school? Why not just 'hands off' and let them figure it out when they turn 18.

Anyways, regardless how you feel, I think any reasonable person can recognize this is not child abuse and the father should be left alone.

Here is one of the reasons. "When the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Bernie Kosar declared bankruptcy in 2006, he estimated that he was supporting between 25 to 50 families"
