"federal spending in 2013 will be about $3.553 trillion. In 2012, federal spending was $3.538 trillion."
That's a net increase of 15 billion dollars, or 0.4%. However, inflation is currently at 1.5% to 2%, which means this is actually a drop of -1.1% to -1.6%. Furthermore, both baseline amounts include social security, medicare, and veteran spending, which are explicitly exempted from the sequestration cuts.

Fair point. And good catch.

In light of this new information, I'll be heading over to my underground bunker. Wouldn't want to be around when it hits the fan.

See you all in 2014.

Most people figure out that if you spent $100 a month last year, and are spending $107 a month now, you have not cut your spending. Maybe you throw a temper tantrum and stamp your feet because you didn't get to spend $109...but you still increased spending.

Obama halted all deportations months ago and is luring more illegals with promises of high paying good American jobs and free college and health care. It's counter-productive to hold these detainees when they're going to be handed US citizenship soon.

If ICE managers can't do their jobs with a trivial cut in their budget, they are out of touch with the real world and need to be replaced. Private business deals with cuts all the time, and learn to work smarter and get more done with less. If these managers are incapable...find someone that can do the job.

If you don't read my threads, why do I "have" to pay any attention to you at all?

Right, why should we pay for things we aren't going to do anyway?

That's interesting. I've never heard that logic before.

It's been entertaining watching you play "Who's on First,"
but if yer spendin' more than ya were before, ya didn't cut nuthin'.
