I knew someone would bring this up. The problem with your comment is, women in their natural healthy state can reproduce, with men in their natural healthy state.
However, men in their natural healthy state, can never reproduce with other men in their natural healthy state, just as women in their natural healthy state, can never reproduce with other women in their natural healthy state.
So, if there's ever a preponderance of homosexual activity, the human race will cease to exist, because homosexuals can never naturally produce children. Does this seem normal to you?

There are three major reasons that gay people push for same-sex marriage (in my experience). The first is recognition of their relationships as equal to those of the relationships of heterosexual couples. The second is the fact that civil unions, domestic partnership or whatever a state calls them under its "separate but equal" doctrine are not legally equal to marriage, and they never will or can be. Finally, something most people do not consider, is that some people want to get married for, *gasp*, religious reasons. Yes, not everyone practices religion the same way, and the gay people who want to get marriage have a 1st Amendment right to be married in their sect of religion and have the government recognize it like any other.
Moving from fantasy to reality, which is seemingly difficult for those rooted in millenia year old fairy tales, the countries with the highest standand of living and highest quality of life are generally those that have universal gay marriage. The U.S is moving in the right direction...
The real agenda behind same-sex marriage (gay's can marry all they want under same exact restriction as straight people), is to weaken, yet further, a foundational institution in society - marriage - so as to weaken society. It is all part of the Progressivist attacks on the USA. It is ceaseless and ubiquitous.
But what if there was a special civil union created for gays which gave them all of the rights that heterosexual married couples currently receive, would gays be open to civil unions, with all of the benefits of marriage w/out the actual marriage label?
Same sex couples should have the right to marry the person they love, if they so choose, with the same rights as straight couples.
And they should have the right to call it what it is - marriage.
Heterosexuals don't get to own the word.

Civil marriage is no more religious, just because some people imbue a religious aspect to marriage, than having a glass of merlot is somehow religious because some people imbue a religious aspect to drinking wine.
