No, I'm not kidding. Obviously, the guy didn't take a "how to know if your gun is loaded, and where the safety is" class.

Dog shoots owner in Florida | News - Home

A Florida man was shot and wounded by his dog, who's walked away without charges.
Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Frostproof, Fla., and his dog were in his truck Saturday when his dog kicked a loaded gun on the floor, shooting him in the leg, the Highlands Today newspaper reported.
Lanier told authorities he didn't know his .380 pistol was loaded.

If that had been a cat - the owner would have been shot in the head and died.

And the cat would have eaten him to hide the evidence.

Clear evidence of species bias in our criminal justice system IMO.

Just remember...it's not guns that kill people, it's dogs that kill people.

Happy it was the irresponsible gun owner that got shot instead of the dog.

It is not uncommon for animals to do things that injure others accidentally even when cars had the shifter on the colum and a dog would stand up on the seat and the paw would slide down against the shifter an put it in neutral or worse if the engine was running put it in gear . I heard a lot of that growing up .
puppies or cats chew cords and start fires ,Lots of different things can happen .
Dad told me one time he came in from hunting and his dog jumped up on him and the shot gun was still loaded , one of the claws pulled the trigger and the gun went off putting a hole in the celing. No one was hurt but the fact is safety precautuions had not been practiced, and that is the same with every thing we do in life.
Little children pull the table cloth and the silver ware and dishes come crashing down on them.
Life happens one can run around trying to prevent every thing but the fact of the matter is there is for all of us that moment of action we wern't thinking or distracted and OOPs.
