After a year-long delay, the House finally voted 286-138 to pass the Violence Against Women Act. The newly passed legislation creates and expands federal programs to assist local communities with law enforcement and aiding victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Originally passed in 1994 and reauthorized since, the act provides support for organizations that serve male or female domestic violence victims. On average, three women a day die at the hands of their husbands or boyfriends. Apparently 138 Republicans don't think that's a problem.

Oh, goodie. Another law to cover something that's already against the law.

Leave it to dems to not be able to connect dots and need a separate law for every breath they take.

Do we need a law that says animal cruelty is illegal too?

What was funny was, Cantor bending arms to get the bill passed in the House explaining how devastating it would be to show the Repubs in such a bad light nationally.... He got enough to vote with the Dems to pass it then turns around and votes against it! He must appeal to the RWNJs in his district don't you know, but the rest of the Repubs, well, they are just fodder for the leaders anyway... What has happened to my Grand Old Party?

Just think......if we armed women, the violence against them would come to a screeching halt!

End of problem.

When your perpetrator shares a home and a bed with you, you can't go around armed all the time.

We already have state laws against violence, so why is the federal government getting involved? The SCOTUS already struck down this law as unnecessarily intruding into state jurisdiction.

This will be another piece of bad law.

The Senate bill expands “coverage” to men, homosexuals, transgendered individuals and prisoners. It expands the definition of domestic violence to include causing “emotional distress” or using “unpleasant speech.” It ostensibly nullifies the legal presumption of innocence until proven guilty. The bill also expands the law’s reach to give tribal Indian authorities jurisdiction over non-Indians accused of abusing Indian women. Finally, what good is a social engineering bill without tossing in bones to the most sacrosanct constituency, illegal immigrants? It would grant more visas to illegal immigrants who are victims of domestic abuse.

The Magical Word

Honey.............if you're stupid enough to sleep with your perpetrator, you deserve what you get. Yes, you do.

I realize dems can't figure out their own birth control, but surely they know how to open the front door and walk away. No?
