Why? He paid for the dinner. Out of his personal pocket.

Obama has been criticized for his continued failure to socialize in DC. Of course when he does dine with GOP senators , he's criticized for doing s even though, unlike his predecessors, Obama picked up the tab out of his own pocket.

It would have been nice had the President done this last week instead of running around the country with his pants on fire telling everyone how evil Republicans are.

maybe his hit in Gallops poll has given him an indication that the American people arent going to be open to his blatant attempt to distroy the republicans in hope of sweeping election victories in 2014.

I would like to see Mr. Obama work on a legacy that leaves America capable of dealing with a soaring debt, instead of constant fighting while the debt continues to soar.

Obama is being criticized for his lack of Leadership. He's like a little kid when he does get his way he takes his toys and goes home for several years before coming back out to play again.

He had four years to set that precedent. Live with it.

From your Liberal Heros

Maybe Obama's definition of sunlight is different than the rest of the world?

Default Obama hosts dinner for GOP budget powers

This will probably result in nothing more than some short-lived false hopes. The GOP is in a position where the remainder of their supporters will not tolerate compromise in any form.

He gets an expense account AND an entertainment account (paid for by the taxpayers). Perks for being president.

How do you know what his predecessors did or didn't pay for out of their own pocket?

It was nothing more than a photo op moment for all of them.

How much Obama spent on the dinner?

The tab probably ran to about $120 per person, including taxes and gratuity. So, for thirteen people, about $1360.

It may have been a photo op moment, but it was also a dinner when, instead of flinging insults and indulging in overblown rhetoric, the gentlemen actually engaged in conversation. And that's a good thing.
