I don't care if the president plays golf, or has other "hobbies" or vacations as long as HE pays for it with HIS own money. Just like you and me, it should come out of his personal salary. He has a salary, he should learn to live within it. BTW, this goes for Congress as well.

But the president doesn't pay with his own money.
His security force hovers all over him, costing the taxpayers lots of money.
He does have a point though. Why is the white house SPENDING money on trivialities, yet cannot find money to fund other things.
18K a week for Secret Service protection during white house tours. One MILLION dollars to play golf with Tiger Woods.
I guess he's saying in a round about way that if the leader of our country doesn't care enough about how he spends our country's money, "How can we count on him to make good decisions about the rest of how our money is spent, such as stopping white house tours, when there are so many other things to address?".
The point is that White House tours are a national symbol. It's like if you cut some military jobs, you do not cut the guards at Arlington National Cemetary. Yes, they cost money that isn't essential for running the nation. It's like the mayor of New York saying he doesn't want to cut spending, and when he has to, he closes down the Statue of Liberty. It's petty. And it's extorting patriotism and national pride in order to get your way.
It is obvious that Obama did that to make political points. There are 22 different accounts servicing 13 different departments to cover expenses at the White House. And he chose to cut the most publicly visible expense he possibly could.
How about some compromise bills on revenue/taxes, spending and jobs?
Nope. Can't have none of that.
Your thread title is a lie. completly. A bill designed to STOP Spending by definition, CANNOT be a waste of money it seeks save.
Second, Republicans have ALREADY compromised on revenue/taxes. In fact the word "compromise" is an understatement. The CAVED. Revenue/Taxes has ALREADY been done. Bammer got what he wanted.
NOW he has moved the goal post and has been dishonest and wants MORE. The answer is NO YOU GOT YOURS ALREADY.
It is now time for democrats to compromise. Republicans went first. It is now time to address spending because new revenue has already been done.

Ask yourself, how far will this republicon's bill go for passage?
Not far Ferd, not far at all, so, therefore, it is a waste of time and money, something republicons love to do, waste. The sooner you understand that, the quicker you'll start voting for people who represents what is best for the country, and not this partisan bull.
It's like the 30 bills the GOP introduced and passed in the GOP controlled house called jobs bills, but were anything but jobs bills, more waste of time and money.
Obama has never moved the goal post as you describe, he has always said he want's a balanced approach to cuts and asked for more revenue, and the GOP refuses to negotiate on closing loopholes or increased revenue. If anything, the GOP has moved the so called goal posts many, many times.
Be a nice gesture from BO to cool it with the putt putt golf in light of our situation, but taking into consideration his culture and upbringing you know that won't happen.
He gots to gets his while he can.
He is a millionaire already and after the Presidency he will write a book or two at about 12 million each and a speaking engagement will bring about $100,00.00 per hr. What were you talking about?
Closing the White House to public tours because of the "sequester",....and then trotting off in Air Force One for a private golf outing with Tiger Woods seems rather hypocritical to me. Cost of Air Force One is around $180,000 per hour, and the cost of security, secret service, aides, and the travelling media and accompanying accomodations probably wasn't that cheap.
This was purely a personal holiday for Obama who warned of the dire consequence of the sequester, but chose to flaunt his privileged status.
As Michelle would say,..."Let them eat cake",.........
Maybe they could sit outside the White House asking for change, would that be more fitting for you?
Could you please expand on that and explain what you mean and how being pretty much raised by his grandparents in Hawaii would have anything to do with his golf habits today?
Well I have heard there are nice golf courses in Hawaii, maybe it is common for the locals to play plenty of golf too.

The Obamas are not ROYALTY.
Wouldn't hurt for them to lead by example.
One has to wonder what kinds of vacations this couple had before they became the First Family.
