Speaking of England, ask 1000 Brits if they want to trade in their healthcare system for the U.S. model.
I'd be willing to bet 800 of them would say no. Probably at least 80%.
I know my half brother would say differently, he died in a english hospital with a illness that was very treatable. he was just in his 70's and told they could not spare the needed treatments.

In the end, unless you have unlimited funds, you're not going to get every treatment. It works this way here too. No American Health Care Insurance will approve every treatment even if there is a chance to save your life. Bottom line is money.
I lived in England, and had health care insurance (NHS). I live here without it. Life was easier in England as a result but I don't agree with universal health care. People should pay for their health.

I can say I've travelled extensively all through Europe; not just the large cities, but well off the "beaten paths." I've spent as long as 6 months at a time there, hiking, driving, taking the train, and flying. I've met literally hundreds of persons from around the world. Moreover, many I still keep in contact with. Having said all of that, here is my opinion on Europe:
The countries in Europe are beautiful. In most places (not Athens) it is clean, fairly modern, and efficient. The history of Europe just cannot be beat, nor can the sight "right around the corner."
Having said that, I find the people to be, well, rather "snobby." Especially Brits. They have a superiority complex, which leads them to believe they are "better" then Americans. Not just better, but smarter and more well rounded. American's, to them, are fat and lazy. They believe their system of socialization is far superior to the American way of life and their pure hated, no pure fear, of guns is astounding. Most European's forget their own violent pasts.
Now having said all that I just said? I'll be in the UK in May :-0
