She and her husband need to apologize to Sarah Palin, the NRA and every law-abiding gun owner in the United States.

Mark Kelly's 'AR-15 Stunt' Provokes Giffords Photo Leak

Mark Kelly's campaign against "assault weapons" such as the AR-15 rifle has sparked a local backlash. On March 13, a Tucson, Arizona radio host published a photograph of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords holding an AR-15 rifle at a gun range. Giffords has since confirmed that the photograph is authentic.

The source, who is a member of the law enforcement community, told Breitbart News:

"We were told she wanted to toughen her image. She asked to come out and she wanted to shoot a rifle. She had one of our guys out there to show her how to shoot an AR-15."

the least she could have done was use an outline target instead of an actual PHOTOGRAPH OF A PERSON!
In all my years in the military I never shot at a target like that!

Oh, wait, there WAS the "shoot/don't shoot decision course" with pop-up targets in Hawaii....

I think its time for and her husband to go away now. Any further use of them by anti-gun nuts is officially hypocritical.

She's not going anywhere. She is now a political prop for Obama and Crew to wheel out whenever they need to talk about gun control.

So a photo op taken almost 3 years ago to help her in a state that cherishes their guns is now bad because she was shot and is now realising that she made a mistake in helping to promote what could have killed her? How screwed up are conservatives really to bring up what someone once did almost 3 years ago?

Extremely screwed up. They don`t understand how a bullet to the head can change a person`s thinking in regards to assault weapons. In fact, they have no idea why Ted Kennedy was anti-gun. (Insert inane Chappaquiddick remarks here.)
