Translation, anybody?
I think a better translation would be, 'Libera tu mente...'.

For a short time (history wise) Amman was named Philadelphia, but about 300 yrs or so before the name was sourced in Turkey. Just for links though, Ptolemy II was called 'philadelphus' b/c he killed his first wife and shared his brother's wife (cousin to both of them). Attalus II was called 'philadelphus' b/c he and his brother both ruled Pergamon and later parts of Macedonia together before his brother died.

Attalus' great grand-child fought either with or against Ptolemy in one of the wars fighting with the Romans, and also was mentioned when Ptolemy II finished Alexander the Great's library.

Philadelphia is the city of brotherly love - which is a Christian concept.

San Diego, San Antonio, and San Jose are all named after Christian saints.

Why so much intolerance of religion from the left?
Love is a Christian concept???? New York contains the word new, which is in the New testament.

I am sure that it hard to believe, but there are Christians living in San Francisco.
What about pedophile priests, are they angels of torture?

My library card is well worn.
Public libraries are notoriously "liberal" in nature, as I should know well... we (library staff) are all union members, in fact, usually with the local SEIU chapters. So basically, you are supporting the unions and liberal employees by using the library. You're also kinda supporting "socialism," with the whole concept of providing free/equal access to materials & services at the expense of taxpayers. Whoops.

(that being said, I'm very glad your card is well used)

Oh yeah, and I don't know where you get the idea liberals (as a whole) are anti-religion. IIRC around 80% of Americans identify as religious, which means at LEAST 20-30% of liberals are religious themselves. Also consider that approx 70% of American Jews vote Democrat, so unless they're self-haters, you can't honestly believe they hate religion too.

Only people of low information/comprehension believe liberals are waging some "war on religion," usually because they confuse supporting equal representation with WAR against the majority religion (Christianity). To quote Jon Stewart, who happens to be a Jewish Democrat:

How do liberals prevent anybody from practicing Christianity and expressing love to their brothers? Did they come to churches and said : "everybody go home - you cannot show your love anymore. This place is closed for business".

The name Philadelphia pre-dates the "Christian Concept."

Attalus II Philadelphus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attalus expanded his kingdom with the help of his good friend Ariarathes V of Cappadocia, and founded the cities of Philadelphia and Attalia. He was well known as a patron of the arts and sciences, and was the inventor of a new kind of embroidery.
