No, but criminals do enjoy hearing the attitude you expressed. Thier courage rises when they hear such a defeatist attitude that advocates surrender.
The only answer is a 007 ejector seat.

Think! It's never wise to speak without thinking.

These types of posts or threads started by gun-huggers hypothesizing it would all have been rosy had the woman only been armed are the very thing of hyperbole and idiotic reasoning.

It COULD have resulted in her seeing the guy coming with enough lead time to get her weapon into play effectively.

It ALSO COULD have resulted in the perp finding the gun still in her purse after killing her and then using the thing to kill a couple of cops or innocent bystanders.

Arm every single person in the world and all you'll get is MORE death, NOT LESS!

You will not deter the types of crimes committed by this type of guy. He wanted his 15 minutes of fame and opportunity to indulge his fantasy. He would not have been deterred thinking his victim might have a gun in her purse; he would simply have adjusted his attack to a blitz without her even seeing it coming as it probably was in any case.

How was it do you think, that mom didn't even have the presence of mind to tell daughter to RUN if she had enough advance warning to deploy any weapon?

Armchair quarter-backing is great for things as irrelevant as team sports but NOT gun ownership.

You wouldn't even be able to draw the gun before the carjacker had control of you. You would be shrieking and getting hysterical, as would be true for 98% of victims.

Oh wait, Dale has me on "ignore." Sorry.

It is indeed amusing to see how they fantasize they would react in crisis situations. The vast majority of people crumble. In this case, we would have another stolen gun on the streets as a result of these nitwits carrying concealed handguns and some of the nitwits would have the guns used against them.

As opposed to the criminal who enjoys hearing he might have a better chance finding weapons sequestered in glove boxes all over the local mall parking lot? In the purse of the woman walking in front of him up the subway stairs? Of course she doesn't think the guy who got off the train behind her is a bad dude because he's wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase.

Any serious criminal who can determine irrefutably that someone is armed, now has a sure source for a weapon if he's even halfways smart.

As the proliferation continues and it then becomes the norm to expect the presence of a weapon, what would you do if you were a serious criminal? How would you adjust your method of approach? What types of preventative steps would that then require all of the rest of us to take to protect ourselves from even more guns in the hands of criminals.

Where can you foresee this all ending?

OK Dale,if you drive around with a gun resting on your lap you may be able to fight off a carjacker.Otherwise, the carjacker has the upper hand.I`ll choose car insurance over a gun battle but if it makes you feel good keep a couple of six shooters handy. If someone is riding in the back seat be sure to give them some weaponry too because you never know. The more guns you`re carrying the safer you are.

Oh my bad...the average good caring law abiding citizen cant obtain that in NY. This story isnt for the faint of heart.
