NY soda ban is exactly why people hate liberals. (minimum wage, independent, solution)

Now, I was always ambivalent about this law, but correct me if I'm wrong. Sprite was not being banned. GIANT Sprites were being banned.
Once again, conservatives find it necessary to set up a straw man and untruthfully portray the opposing position as extreme in a way it is not. This must come at least partially from the abandonment of the capacity to compromise that has made conservatives more and more irrelevant when it comes to governance.
Yeah, absolutely, you've got that right! Except, oh dang, wait a sec: Michael Bloomberg isn't a liberal.
He's an old-style paternalist conservative, who believes that elites (the real kind - his kind) should govern, and governing means telling little people what's best for them, whether they like to hear it or not.

Yeah...all gun grabbers are such conservatives. Do yourself a favor and get some fresh air.

You must be a revisionist historian - your definition more accurately describes a Progressive.
What about the drugs? I would like for liberals and conservatives to give me some sort of principle to go on because I don't seem to know what it is. Conservatives like drug laws but not bad food laws while liberals don't like drug laws but like bad food laws. Then would conservatives like to offer what they mean by government interference when corn syrup is subsidized while they don't like a ban on soda.
Could one of you even come up with any principle at all or is it going going to be an ad hoc monkey house where I can only speculate what idiotic an inconsistent move you plan on next?
Conservative:
To answer your question, a business can not be successful unless it serves its customers well. If I sell you bad food and you get sick then you will not come back to me to buy the bad food. I will soon be out of business. If I sell you top notch, good food you will be back and my business is successful due to customers and repeat customers.
Problem solved without treating me like I am an idiot or telling me what to do.
Get a job or run a business so you can support you and your family. Don't depend on the government because as we all see they can't do the job.
People should have common sense and don't need the government to lord over them to tell them what to do.
Balance your personal budget so expenses are lower than income.
Help others but not to the point where they abuse it.
Funny the RWNJ's trying to push THEIR republican party mayor with the meme of LIBERAL. Another mind warping twist from your local wing nut.
Bloomberg was a lifelong democrat before running for office. He switched to Republican so he could get a nomination unopposed in a 5-1 democrat town. He is now an independent.
So much for his loyalty to anything but his own ambition.
This is a perfect stereotype of why people or at least what people don't like about liberals. This push to make you do what they want you to. Its for your own good. How exactly is this any different than the Religious nuts who think porn should be illegal? Or Abortion or gun control? Its all the same crap. One thinks they have to help you lose a few pounds the other to save your soul. I am sick of both sides telling me how to live.
You want to do a documentary or PSA on fat in food, or sugar, or even porn fine, but stop trying to pass a law to force me to abide by your crazy crap.
Amen! The hypocrisy is jaw dropping. And that each side is blind to it, even more so. It leaves those of us, out here in the real world, stuck twixt a hammer and an anvil.
I figger, if I want to look at Playboy magazine whilst slurping on a 40 oz Dr. Pepper, scarffing a bacon double cheeseburger before I go to the shooting range, well, welcome to America!

I agree to a point. I think the far left wing over-the-top liberals are the ones worthy of hate, same with the far far right wingnuts...

You certainly could use the services of some sort of historian. Bloomberg's outlook is very close to the old Republican Party, c. 1970. Regardless of the party affiliations he's chosen, he's a conservative in the tradition of Taft, Lodge and Rockefeller. Which is why, taken point by point, his positions wobble right down the line between the two. What he is not is a low-church guns-and-god populist, which several people in this thread seem to think is synonymous with "conservative".
