While CPAC and Obama-hating soak up most of the oxygen in this forum, things
are happening in the rest of the world, including the run-up to a referendum on independence for Scotland.
Meanwhile, however, the Guardian is reporting that
political leaders in the three main outlying island groups off the Scottish coast, the Orkneys, Shetlands and the Western Isles, are now discussing the possibility of home rule
from Scotland.
So its only a matter of time before some of the outlying islands of the Shetlands look for their own independence, and so I'd like to make an early bid for the post of First Minister of
Whalsay, sixth-largest of the Shetland Isles, population 1034 (people, that is - haven't found census figures for the sheep), and home of the northern-most golf course in the U.K. (for now).
Long Live Free Whalsay!
(p.s. - my first campaign event will be held at Whalsay's hot night spot, the
Oot Ower Lounge - we'll be in the caravan on the right - don't bother to knock, just come in)
