Kansas City Atheists Kicked Out of St. Patrick's Day Parade out of 'Respect for St. Patrick'
This isn't illegal discrimination. This is a privately-run parade and the organizers have every right to ban groups they don’t like.

LoL Good for them.
The activist Atheist groups only protest when religious holidays are given special recognition by any official government body or public institution, because they view it as a separation of church and state violation. St. Patrick's day and non-Christian holidays generally do not enjoy special state recognition and the parades are private and the St. Partick's parties occur in private institutions like bars or people's private homes. Atheist activist organizations generally do not protest the existence of religious holidays, merely the relationship that can sometimes exist between them and institutions which are supposed to be religiously neutral.

You know people who shop on Christmas Day?

That is odd - most people I know spend the day with their families, volunteer at a shelter, or watch football games somewhere.

They aren't shopping - that's for sure.

That aside, liberals don't hate St. Patricks day because like conservatives, they're either getting too drunk to care about it or they don't know the meaning of the day. And even if they did know the meaning, why would they care regardless? No one is pushing St Pats on anyone.

As for the OP's nonsensical statement about liberals hating Christmas, that claim is just as silly.

Christmas hasn't been a religious holiday in decades.
Lots of stupidity on the internet. Liberals hate Christmas? Man, talk about ignorance. I don't hate Christmas, I hate the commercialization of it and how it's becoming about making money. But I love everything else associated with it, it's a blast, lots of drinking and parties, what more can you ask for???

I just think that it's made to be a much bigger deal in the media than it is in real life; for the OP, they have the impression that so many non-theists protest Christian holidays that they seem altogether surprised when they're not protesting a Christian holiday lol

The truth is that most atheists and agnostics just tend not to care. Your granddaughter is essentially the apotheosis of a non-theist. Most people don't crap all over other people's celebrations. Who do you really know that does that?

St Patricks day is now more about Irish appreciation day. I'm not catholic, but I celebrate it.

Oh, and its not a national holiday. Atheists don't protest ash Wednesday or Passover either, just when you make relious holidays, national holidays

As an atheist/agnostic myself, I certainly have no problem with any religious holiday and one of my hobbies is photographing religious places of worship.

Live and let live.
THANK YOU!!

I have never protested any holiday. Have no reason to. Hell, I celebrate Xmas myself, the secular holiday but I have absolutely no issue with any holidays. I'd honestly celebrate any holiday that would give me a day off and come with possible food and presents. I say bring on MORE holidays!

The same reason Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25th. None of those holidays really have anything to do with religion.

It seems like atheists wanted to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but the intolerant religious wouldn't let them, despite marching on public paid roads.

According to the parade organizers, it was supposed to be "open to all, Irish or not Catholic or not." Other non-Catholic and Irish groups were able to get a spot in the parade.

Once again, "tolerant" christians show their intolerance.

It's been commercialized since the very beginning.

The Three Wise Men brought the most expensive gifts of the time to the Baby Jesus.

Lots of stupidity on the internet, people claiming Christmas has become commercialized.
