He let Feinstein go on and on but when it came down to it he couldn't let it go forward as head of the Senate.
I agree here. Harry Reid doesn't respect the constitution. He just respects getting Democrats elected and doesn't want the party caught up in Feinstein's nuttiness. Her extremism is a losing proposition with the voters. He may let her rant and rave but he's not going to make it official business by advancing her ideas through Congress.
