You would vote for Reid in a general election in a heartbeat. Which is how people like Reid stay in office.

It's all about the votes and even Reid knew that.

He let Feinstein go on and on but when it came down to it he couldn't let it go forward as head of the Senate.
I agree here. Harry Reid doesn't respect the constitution. He just respects getting Democrats elected and doesn't want the party caught up in Feinstein's nuttiness. Her extremism is a losing proposition with the voters. He may let her rant and rave but he's not going to make it official business by advancing her ideas through Congress.

I don't think they could ever get 75% of the states to ratify it.

Hope not.

The NRA just announced this on FB and said that Sen. Feinswine is expected to offer it as an amendment.

Democrat insiders say the universal background check, supported only by Democrats, will not head to the floor either.

More empty grandstanding. That's all this stuff has been.

Oh well, it sure sold a lot of guns and ammo.

No no, not an amendment to the constitution, but an amendment to a more broad gun bill

The Senate still plans to vote on the ban, but only as an amendment to the larger gun bill
.

So in other words, a bait and switch

Nevada, enough said. A long tradition of cowboys and guns. Harry knows his constituency and he knows they won't go for this crap. Good for him for once.
