Now ask again why one is considered cool/OK/whatever and the other is not.
Same question will tell you why one is legal and subsidized by the government but the other is illegal and punished harshly.

Perhaps people should, at a minimum, do a google search and educate themselves about marijuana. No, it has NOT been found to cause many of the biggest health risks (lung and other cancers, heart disease, COPD, increased risk of dementia) that tabacco does. Marijuana is not physically addictive, as nicotine is. Marijuana has accepted medical uses, (pain management, preventing seizures, anti -nausea properties, appetite stimulant, etc). Although not entirely harmless (it is a drug), marijuana has far fewer adverse health risks than cigarettes (and alcohol). Whether marijuana or cigarettes are “cool” seems silly. Marijuana has become more popular as people recognize that in moderation, it’s health risks are minimal and many find it relaxing. Whereas smoking cigarettes is extremely harmful to the smoker’s body and those exposed to second hand smoke. No drug is 100% safe but numerous scientific research finds marijuana to have minimal health risks, with the exception of its effects on youth. There is support that, as teenagers brains are still developing, frequent exposure to THC may adversely impact neurological development.

There hasn't been enough long term research, however the research that has been done is offered as advice.

It's up to the individual as to what they want to do, just as it is with smoking.

There may be risks and there is some limited research, but the exact risks are not entirely known.

Equally there could be long term risks ingesting cannabis, however once again research is limited.

Whilst in terms of mental health issues it may increase risks in a small group of susecpitble people, according to the research available.

However all this depends on factors such as how much you use and how often, the type of cannabis/marijuana as some variants are a lot more potent than others, how old you are when you start to use it, your family history of illness including cases of schizophrenia and other such factors.

No it's not silly, when the vast majority who use it smoke it. It stinks up everything just like cigs do or even worse.

Great, if people quit smoking it and used it in another way that didn't stink up the surrounding area, that would be wonderful, but that's not going to happen anytime soon since most LOVE to smoke it, not take it in pill form or some other way.

It doesn't have to be smoked, there are all kinds of ways to ingest that seek to minimize smoke damage.

While I can't smoke weed due to having a CPL, so I don't pay a lot of attention to it. I'll replace it with Cigars. And i think the difference between Cigars and Cigarettes is huge.
Cigars (premium) and Weed is basically all natural, no chemicals added. Cigarettes are nothing but chemicals .
