Well you know what they say, if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen . If your opinion was strong enough to begin with, it wouldn't matter what others think...at worst, you would stay with your opinion; at best, you might even sway a few

this is a good example. you may disagree with some of his opinions and numbers, but many people wont even DISCUSS IT!!!

what are they going to do when the crisis actually happens? blame everyone but themself? "well, no one told ME!"
Actually I've discussed issue here on city data before. In real life (outside of the forum ) I talk to fellow Gen Xer all the time about this issue . And Almost all of them agree we are fooked when the bill comes due. But with that said I and the people I believe we will survive as a nation and as a people. And we'll just keep on keep'in along. Even if we ain't U.S. Empire anymore.

Now someone may mistake the outward attitude of this as apathy, but really it more of rolling with the punches and trying to enjoy life along the way. At least on this issue.

man, my co-worker is so clueless on pretty much everything its really starting to affect my opinion of her.

she might be good at her job, but she knows nothing about the world around her, and doesnt want to know!

im thinking she is either very selfish (most likely) or simple.

Like the bumper sticker says, "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."

It's not just Bush. It's both parties thinking that growing the government, taking more of the money you earned, and sacrificing your liberties will make us all happy and solve all our problems. We've become conditioned to turning to the government for easy answers to every problem that comes up. If someone says you'll have to make sacrifices, or figure a problem out for yourself, people don't know what to do.

We're all dumb, fat, and happy. A politicans throws a few platitudes at us, and we think everything's OK and we go back to watching Survivor and the latest news about Britney. Meanwhile, children are being killed and women raped in Sudan, Buddhist monks are being butchered in Burma, and that cheap crap you bought from Wal-Mart so you could save a few bucks was made by the equivalent of slave labor, in China, the largest Communist nation on the planet, where human rights don't exist and you can be jailed or executed for so much as flying a Tibetan flag or practicing certain religious rituals.

Immigration problem? Build a huge fence.

Spending out of control? Well, don't cut my program.

Someone attacked us? Let's bomb someone, even if they had nothing to do with it.

Our national debt sucks. Our foreign policy sucks. Our jobs are disappearing to China. George Bush has made us the most hated nation on Earth. Even Bill Clinton was an embarrassment, but nobody cared because their wallets were fat and their refrigerators were full.

We're dangerously apathetic about the world around us. And most of us are content to be that way. It's really, really scary.
