I'm serious.

How do you justify your existence if you only survive from waiting for a check from taxpayers?

What? Why do you assume only healthy people get a check from taxpayers? This doesn't even make sense.

No but I can attest, seeing it as a manager for a place that had a good amount of employees that actually bitched and requested less hours as it would affect their benefits.

Worst part they were 18-25, not in college, no children. Just liked to party. Even sicker is there were others in school and had children that recieved less benefits or no benefits.

They just had a mentality of why wouldn't you take the money. Its like being at a fair and they gave out free food and you said no thank you then paid for the same food.

By blaming it on racism and the economy instead of accepting any personal responsibility for it.

But, that being said, there are children who are born into poverty and never know anything else. They grow up and have another generation of children in poverty. There really is such a thing as being trapped in a cycle of poverty. There are able bodied people who simply don't know how to live any different. And those people should be helped to get out of poverty.

Where was that assumption made?

I wanted to be clear that I am not against the handicapped getting assistance.

Ah yes, the high effective marginal tax rates on many low earners. Many conservatives complain about lower marginal rates on the top 1%, but are oblivious to the higher effective marginal rates on many low wage workers.

Imagine you're earning minimum wage and you get to keep only 20 cents for each additional dollar you earn. Would you work more hours for $1.50 an hour?

I'm unsure of the question. What do you mean by "contribute to society"?

I have a few people I'd love to ask this question of. They are scum, if you ask me, but what they are doing in a lot of cases is legal, just completely unethical. My own SIL just found out she is now making too much to get her food stamps and is getting cut off, so what has she been doing lately? Calling off of work. She just started shacking up with some guy who is unemployed and also getting food stamps despite the fact that he supposedly has some kind of large savings (he just spent $8k on a motorcycle). Sounds like a winning pair.

Ah, yet another "we hate welfare bums" thread. Just to break up the monotony of the "we hate Obama" threads.

I'll bet at least half of you "rugged individualists" fiddled your tax returns.
