The final provision related to gun owners is that individuals do not have to disclose they own a gun. I wonder why the girl was asked those questions.
The only reason I can think is as a possible suicidal tendancy question, but I'd be curious to know if there were other questions that asked about mental health specifically. IE, "Have you ever contemplated suicide?" "Have you ever attempted suicide?" etc.

I would suggest that the heard it from a friend is a giant clue as to why this fallacy has been blown up so quickly. I think the guy who told the OP...if that's the truth...didn't even experience this, and is simply parroting what he heard/read/was told on some RWNJ site that has been debunked over and over again.

The Blaze...finally get's SOMETHING right. The article shows that the information is not allowed to be asked, or used for research. This has been out there for some time.

I highly doubt the event took place. As other articles of the same "myth" have been debunked time and again.

I have heard of this and anyone who is asked this SHOULD SAY "ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" -- its just a way to invade privacy and find guns! (Even legal guns)

One of our clerical staff heard about this on the talk radio she listens to constantly and asked one of our doctors (pediatrician) if he asked these kind of questions. He said, "yes, it's a matter of safety. Some people keep a loaded gun under their beds, and they kids can get at it." If some of you think the kids don't know the gun is there, you have another think coming.

Anyone here heard of anything like this? The guy told me that his daughter was told it was part of 0bamacare.
If it is I know a few congress people who are going to get phone calls.
Why do I not believe you?

Yeah, who cares about kids having access to carelessly stored firearms? It's nobody's business right?

The gun in the home question was asked on Pediatricians new Patient information form back as far as 1987 that I can recall.
Left it blank. Would still leave anything that can be misconstrued blank on these forms. NA not applicable.
