I don't think illegal aliens are included in that number,

An editorial by liberal who would defend Obamacare now matter what.....no thanks. Some of that crap has already been debunked so its a failure of an editorial.

Well we don't agree on a while lot when it comes to politics but I just wanted to say I'm sorry that you have to go to an oncologist. I know nothing they deal with is any fun. I hope you're okay.

Obamacare has cost thousands of parents to lose the ability to have their kids one their own plans.

With many plans moving towards "integrated deductibles" forcing families to not have option for peds only health plans significantly raises the costs.

Insurers stop selling new child-only health plans - Health - Health care | NBC News

Also for the self employed. Insuers stopped offering already expensive maternity riders. This has created a gap from 2010-2014 where women cannot even add maternity riders if on the private insurance market
Many Individual Health Policies Do Not Cover Pregnancy - Kaiser Health News

So if u are a woman who was not already grandfathered with maternity rider. Once obamacare took place. Many insurers pulled out of the maternity coverage starting in may 2010.

If u get pregnant u will end up paying much more until 2014. We just had friends who had to pay $16000 out of pocket cash cause while they had insurance. It didn't cover maternity. The cash rate for all maternity expenses was $9000 for all physician hospital and lab expenses. Plus "complications" from c section hitting their high deductible.

Thank you Obama.

Thought things were supposed to get cheaper.

Most of what is reported in that article are facts about things that have already occurred, not conjecture, so I don't know what you mean by debunked. That's why it's a "report card", it's discussing what Obamacare has already accomplished.

So when will nurse-practitioners get MDs as degrees?

That's terrible. How much of that is Obamacare though, and how much of that is health insurance companies being the weasels they've always been? Health care reform is a process, and the size of the under-taking is immense. Do you realize that the $2.8 trillion spent on health care in this country is equal to the entire GDP of France, the fifth largest economy in the world?---I just learned that in the course I am taking... Hopefully, as the health insurance companies do things like what you described, those loopholes will be closed.

Not only do I have my own experience of being denied health insurance, but working in oncology I saw the finances of entire families wiped out because they had, for example, a 3-year-old with leukemia. I remember we had a fund-raiser to try to raise enough funds to save the family farm of one such family. It was not enough, the farm was still auctioned off.

A BSN has a bachelors, and a nurse practitioner either has a masters in nursing--6 years of training plus clinical, or a doctorate in nursing--8 years of training and clinical, which is just about as much as a doctor. I have friends who are nurse practitioners, and they went that route rather than med school because they could do it in steps--it was a more family friendly process rather than doing it all in one stretch through med school. They can practice independently of a physician, prescribe medications, and they have certifications in different areas of medicine, just like a doctor.

I see a nurse practitioner for my general health care and I love it. Nursing tends to focus on wellness rather than just treating a problem and moving on. She spends a ton of time with me and answers my questions. If there's something that needs to be investigated beyond her expertise, then I'm moved on to a specialist.

Why would you need to see an MD to get an antibiotic for an ear infection, or for your annual physical, or for a well baby check up? It makes zero sense.
I don't go to a doctor's office to see a "nurse".

Say what you want,...but I don't want to spend my money on someone who doesn't have a "M.D." after their name. Has to do with quality of care and confidence.

That's my right and opinion, and I personally could care less what you think about it.
