You don't like your state legislators vote em out. Or move to another state. Pretty simple stuff. Funny how prop 8 which the court is supposedly debating was passed by the PEOPLE. I guess you forgot that. Not a shock.
Nothing like letting the majority decide the rights for the minority. Good thing we didn't rely on the majority vote when it came to Civil Rights or the Women's Rights.
Who said it was fine? I want the government as far out of my life as possible in every facet of my life. Leave us alone. Get out of the marriage business all together. It is none of the governments business. But for some reason folks are screaming and whining and cheering that they can go sign a contract with the state. You must be a glutton for punishment because more government involvement in your life is punishment.

Well your buddy was screaming about republicans so I pointed out that prop out was passed by the voters. I guess it's hard for you to keep up to speed. Not a shock. Your too busy wetting the bed at the latest travesty being thrown at you emotional types to even understand what is going on though.
Voters also elected those who appointed and confirmed those people who are explicitly granted judicial purview over referendums. You cannot claim some special providence for those aspects of our system of governance without granting providence to the entirety of the system.
The polls show that among young Republicans under 30, even among the die hard righties, the majority of them support marriage equality for gays and see it simply as an equal rights issue. There is hope for this country yet.

Yep, the majority should never be able to vote away the rights of the minority. That's why we have things like the 14th amendment.

That's part of the cynical aspect of the motivation behind such measures as Prop 8: Bigots and their enablers working to encode their bigotry so deeply in the legal structures that once they die off it will still be hard to achieve justice.
I'm a Republican and I support gay marrigae. Though I am more of a libertarian style republican than a bible thumping one. In fact I am not religious at all.
I am also very much pro life which causes liberals to automatically assume I'm a religious fundamentalist. Most liberals are like that though, too feeble minded to think past DNC talking points.
Nah, I understand your position. Good to see a Republican who can think for himself. It is so rare.

So I take it you do not have a legally binding marriage that is recognized by the state and federal government?
