Oh? Is this the first ship named after a woman? I. . . don't. . . think. . . so!

It would be the favorite ship of the liberals. A warship with no weapons. The could shoot confetti at the enemy. No pop tarts either in case one of the sailors shapes one into a gun shape while eating it.

Yah! It took real courage to undo the Natl Anthem like she did.

For the life of me, nothing Blabby has done is courageous. It's not like she put herself in front of a bullet to save someone else. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That isn't 'courage'.

I think it's hilarious to stick her name on something with GUNS on it.

LMAO!

A disgusting post from someone who has never had to endure the confusion and intensity of a firefight on the battle field.

A disgusting post that disrespects the life, the service and the death of a brave warrior.

I don't care what the Navy calls their freakin newest battle ship. The USS Gabby Giffords can stand alongside Obama's Nobel Peace Prize and Timothy Geithner's Distinguished Fellowship with the Council on Foreign Relations.

Yeah, yeah, I get it but apparently you missed the irony I was going for.

He probably qualifies more than most for the "warrior" or "hero" titles being bandied about on here of which neither Regan nor Giffords qualify.

The irony is: those are not the qualities or earmarks for which the prospective names of ships must qualify. Merely being politically connected will suffice. You have named ships after people like a Whitehouse hostess for cry'n out loud.

If Susan B Anthony qualified to have a navy ship named after her; then it follows Giffords would qualify and so would the Obama's dog.

Don't you people get the irony of this at all?

Your ships are not named primarily after deserving individuals but MERELY over who some politician deems worthy. Hellooo?

You're arguing over a failed "flavor-of-the-month" concept from the get-go!

These nuts on here would cringe if they did a simple google search and discovered the list of US naval ships named after women and who those women were.

Morons.

Name one after Weiner and we can all laugh over the forward missile mount.

Aren't these ships named after places? Why can't people just follow naming conventions instead of making everything political?
