The purpose was originally evolutionary developed for the bacteria to protect against bacteriophages (virus which attack bacteria). You make it sound like eating GMO's is going to somehow cut up our DNA and insert wild vegetable DNA through horizontal gene transfer. You keep quoting the same nonsense but then completely fail in terms of providing a scientific explanation of what you think is going to happen!

If that were the case, our bodies would already be doing it with the fruits and vegetables we already eat. The digestion process does a marvelous job of breaking down the various foodstuffs we eat.
Don't be ridiculous!

You're enough to drive a person to Lysenkoism.

I'm not being ridiculous. You apparently know nothing about biology or genetics and yet you keep coming on here and peddling nonsense like you know anything at all about it. You've provided zero evidence and nothing but blind assertions to support your position.

Here's a novel concept. Support your scare tactics with scientific evidence and then we'll be able to carry on a decent conversation. But posting links to horizontal gene transfer as though you know anything about it does nothing.

You are only following selective script.

I suppose it might be premature at this time to point out that many of Monsanto's products contain proprietary adjuncts. Monsanto has more proprietary assets than patented assets.

And, if I have to spell it out to you, they also have "connections".

Why would any sane human being want to ingest poison? Roundup ready humans soon to be the norm. You are what you eat.

We need all GMO foods labeled. Just more control over the population. At least Europe disallows Monsanto Frankenstein seeds.

Just another Road to Serfdom.

I remember when local farms in the Midwest were rich with pure wholesome produce and dairy products. Food tasted REAL. Now it's Food, Inc., controlling us all. And most of it tastes totally fake, has little nutritional value, and is literally poison disguised as "healthy" food.

International Food Safety Network: Researchers > Archives > Archives &gt News > MONSANTO ENGINEERS THE ROAD TO SERFDOM

Quote:
Those who exercise dominion over seed control the food and fiber of the world. This is exactly what the agriculture-biotechnology-chemical giant Monsanto is doing by patenting transgenic seeds. To defend these patents, the company is persecuting farmers, most notably Percy Schmeiser and the Nelsons. Problem is, this technology is running amok and Monsanto is doing nothing to control it. The herbicide-resistant and pest-killing genes that Monsanto inserts into soybeans, corn, canola, and cotton are spreading to conventional and organic varieties.

what is 'poison' to an insect is not necessarily 'poison' to humans. the proteins used for insect control in GMO plants are so specific that they're even harmless to a great many types of insects, much less humans and other mammals.

Monarch butterflies and pollinating bees are on the decline.
But government and the chemical companies tell us it's not due to Bt toxins in the pollen.

Ranchers report reproductive problems with their livestock eating GMO corn and soy.
But government and the chemical companies tell us it's not due to Bt toxins in the grain.

Yes, I've always wondered how much Monsanto pays these individuals to post the same tired rah-rah positive crap about their GMO's.

It can't be that much money or you'd think they'd hire posters with at least somewhat of a convincing argument. Although truth be told, it is very hard to have a convincing argument against humanity and nature for a for-profit corporation that is in collusion with our Government.

Monsanto owns the FDA and that's all that matters.
They have money and power and that's why labeling hasn't changed much except for COOL.
Monsanto lobbies government, not people because it's the government that approves its use.

The only change "the people" have been successful with is the rBGH hormone in milk.
And even then, Monsanto took those milk companies to court to get them to remove "rBGH Free" from their cartons because they claimed there is no difference therefore there should be no label. Monsanto lost and then promptly sold off their rights to another chemical company..Eli Lilly I believe.

Do you know of a good resource or guide to follow for someone trying not to toxin their bodies with GMO crap?
I know that it is nearly impossible to avoid in soy and corn products. Someone once said the UPC codes identify products as GMO but I'm not sure how true that is.
