As much as I do not like Putin, on this issue he's absolutely correct. Children should be raised by traditional heterosexual families. Mommy + Mommy or Daddy + Daddy is not normal no matter how much todays culture tries to convince otherwise.
Good thing there are so many people lined up to adopt those orphans. I mean it's not like there are hundreds of thousands of children waiting to be adopted or anything.
