Just imagine the nasty consequences that a war with iran would have, it might be the beginning of the end of the world as we know it.
Not saying I agree/disagree at this point, but,,, regarding consequences here are some points to consider:
Day One - The War With Iran
and/or
Six Escalation Scenarios to World Nuclear War [esp. Scenario #3]
and/or
"REBUILDING AMERICA'S DEFENSES" – A Summary [read the .pdf version for MUCH more detail]

Again, how much of this is 'true', this hillbilly don't know... yet, its kinda chilling/interesting reading. Guess better get stocked up on some fuel, batteries, canned goods, etc...

Here's the problem. While Iran most likely wouldn't nuke us or allies directly, I'm certain they wouldn't mind handing off some nuclear material to their terrorist group connects. We get hit on US soil w/o the use of an ICBM and terrorism would be to blame; and Iran can claim innocence in the whole matter:

"It was the failure of American security, its foreign policies, its support of the Zionist regime, and its military projections in Iraq and Afghanistan. We had nothing to do with it and our hearts go out to the victims' families."

If their "connects" were to nuke the US or one of our allies, I'd imagine that intelligence could trace where they got their support and weaponry from... for instance, I don't think Iran would give nukes to Hezbollah to bomb Israel for fear that the West would immediately blame them and retaliate. They probably do want nuclear bombs, but it's more likely for the sake of leverage and power, rather than a desire to actually use them.

Besides, if the best intelligence estimates are right, whoever the next president of the US is will no longer be the president (term limits) by the time Iran could have the ability to make a nuclear bomb (not to mention one small enough to be used by terrorists as a WMD), so it's not necessarily a relevant question right now. There are more urgent things to worry about.

Here's more...

Today no other country on earth is arguably more dangerous than Pakistan. It has everything Osama bin Laden could ask for: political instability, a trusted network of radical Islamists, an abundance of angry young anti-Western recruits, secluded training areas, access to state-of-the-art electronic technology, regular air service to the West and security services that don't always do what they're supposed to do.

Good points, but they are our "allies" against the "EvilDoers", remember?

They are "Good Guys". Kind of like Saudi Arabia, where all the 9/11 terrorists came from. So the fact they now have nuclear weapons in the middle of a nest of angry Muslims jihadists is not a concern to the administration or his nutty marching band. They prefer to attack
"potential threats" that are part of their self-defined "Axis of Evil."

Agreed. I also believe they want leverage/power over anything else. However, the same way US nuclear secrets were uncovered by Soviet spy networks, I believe Iran's infrastructure could be infiltrated. Perhaps not even by terrorists, but by wealthy private investors who wish to sell the technology

This should make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy. The Egyptians now want to go nuclear.

Egypt launches nuclear power program - Breaking News - World - Breaking News

President Hosni Mubarak said that Egypt is to build several nuclear power stations, relaunching a nuclear program frozen more than 20 years ago.

Mubarak said a decree would be issued in a few days' time to establish a higher council for the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the official MENA news agency reported.

Mubarak said the program will be developed in cooperation with the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) "within a framework of transparency and respect of commitments to the nuclear non-proliferation system."
