Some, but just a start that needs a great deal of further politically cooperative work.

With our population? With the magnitude of tax users vs tax payers?

I believe we will have a single payer system in this country sooner than the naysayers think. That type of system is not something that can be implemented overnight. Insurance companies won't allow it. BUT enacting something like "Obamacare" is an excellent first step. Just be patient.

You are right! America is too big and too dumb to figure it out. We deserve to pay twice as much as anyone else.

Didn't we use to have health insurance only for the major medical stuff? We didn't use it for a trip to the Doctor for the sniffles.. When did it change?

Too big, yes. For the amount of other benefits America has come to expect? Absolutely. There is just not enough money for it. One day, someone, who will become very unpopular, needs to come forward and say we can no longer afford all we do for non tax payers.

Too dumb. Nah, just wanting too much to be re elected to do what needs to be done.

This all ended when kindly old Dr. Marcus Welby hung up his stethescope and retired about 1975!

There are very few young Doctors just out of their residency who want to go into Primary Care or practice medicine in small towns rural areas or poor urban neighborhoods.

Since more than 50% of healthcare costs are already publicly financed and liberals claim our healthcare costs are twice every other nation's due to the fact we are not single payer all they have to do is propose a plan that will insure all of us with the tax dollars currently being spent on healthcare. Hell, even I would support that. Why do they not do this?
