If the steak knife you bought broke due to badly constructed parts and sliced you wide open and you had medical bills as a result, then you could sue.

THe coffee pot was malfunctioning, creating coffee that was far, far beyond the temperature that was safe for human drinking. Either the coffee severely burned her legs or it severely burned her insides. Either way would've ended badly for McDonald's. Doing some actual research on this case other than "lol she sued cause coffee was hot" helps to not look like an idiot when bringing it up.

I suspect nobody on a political/controversy forum would believe any personal anecdotes, just sayin'.

What motive would you suggest one might have to get on a public forum and claiming they are owed money, but not ever going to collect?

Good. Finally this crackpot is punished for abusing the system and wasting the court's time and resources.

Why did you remove this part of your post, realize how silly it was?

I dont care what you believe, honestly dont. Again, what motive do you think someone might have to get on a forum and claim they arent going to collect money owed to them?

You absolutely do ask for attorneys fees and court costs. If you're able to, you ask for treble damages, which is 3x what you actually spent..

Its up to the judge to grant it to you or not but only a fool wouldnt ask for their costs..

The prevailing party in a lawsuit is usually awarded court costs. Attorneys' fees can be included as court costs only if there is a statute providing for attorneys' fee awards in a particular type of case, or if the case involved a contract which had an attorneys' fee clause (commonly found in promissory notes, mortgages and deeds of trust).
