Denver Post has video of the congress critters ignorant, assnine remarks.

Rep. Diana DeGette draws criticism for "pretty stupid" ammo-magazine comment - The Denver Post

You just can't make this stuff up. You can predict that this comments, on a par with Todd Akin's comments about rape, will get roughly one ten thousandth the coverage that Akin did from the MSM.

Well, if the government wants to disarm the people, makes one wonder who is the "servant" and who is the "master"?

When you have a vice president telling people to shoot through a door and to fire a few shotgun rounds in the air, what do you really expect?

Reminds me of the new high capaciity swemi-auto firearms and where they really started from. Many people wander why people even need them for self defrense. they only have to look at the FBI study when it went to them in their chocie to move from revolvers. High capacity semi-autos two of the requirements and many police department adapted the requriements from their study on weapons for self defense. That started manufactures produce such weapn in mass for police because they knew public would soon move to them too for self defense.

MY K98 has a magazine, my P345 has a clip.
I thought a magazine was a weekly or monthly periodical consisting of advertisements, articles, and pictures. Why would any one try to ban them, they seem to be dying all by themselves.

I know, stupid joke. One of my favorite Johnny Carson jokes was "I read that Playboy is going to stop publishing the Braille version of their magazine. Great, stop making Playboy for the only people in the world who actually DO read it for the articles!"

So, even after having had the opportunity (presumably) to look this stuff up on Google, they botch it completely. Her statement makes even less sense now. Clips generally don't hold that many cartridges - usually between 5 and 8 or so - because they were designed as loading aids for firearms with fixed magazines. They can even be reused, over and over again, and they sure ain't bullets or ammunition, although I guess you could hurt someone by throwing one of the larger ones at them...

Anyway, which is it? Does she want to ban standard capacity magazines, clips for WWII bolt action rifles and the Garand, or bullets? If the former, then why the heck is she talking about clips? If the middle, why has her efforts been centered on magazines? And if the latter, ditto - plus, she still exhibits a complete lack of knowledge about firearms and ammunition.

Of course, she could just come clean and admit her long term goal of banning every firearm in existence, regardless of mechanism.

She just wants to claim that she banned something. She has no interest if it's a ban on anything that can be enforced or would make a difference. Obviously she doesn't even care to know about what she wants banned.

She just wants to "ban".

It is appalling that she is one of the SPONSORS of the magazine ban bill and she is totally ignorant to what a magazine even is. How can this happen? Folks, it's scary that the law makers in this country vote on laws and sponsor bills without even trying to educate themselves on the subject. This is dangerous for ALL of us.

You seem to have forgotten that it takes time to reload a expended high capacity magazine. Imagine you are standing in a darkened theater with a spent magazine , by the time you get it loaded with fresh ammo someone will have beaten the crap out of you.

Also in a recent mass shooting the mere act of trying to change out a spent clip and install a new one thwarted Mr Holmes who jammed his gun , in stressful situations and in the dark you might become butter fingered.

Because in a darkened theater there are people just sitting around close enough to tell that the person is reloading as opposed to simply looking for his next target.
