...Shouldn't the poor peasants get free money as well?

In an ideal world, nobody takes advantage of the government or influence it, but historically, that's never the case.

...What I am trying to say is, how can we expect people and corporations not to take advantage of the government if people in the government take advantage of both the poor and the rich to get things for themselves?

Peasants never paid into the system they want to pillage. Wealthy bankers and corporations have contributed BILLIONS to play. Tax money paid should not flow only one way.

Peasants have given their votes though, and those votes are highly valued by politicians.

Actually, poor people don't vote in large enough number to make a difference. They also don't work on campaigns, right letters to the editor, donate funds, etc...

This is why we can have minimum wage laws and go to war without opposition form the public.

Poor people and young people do not matter politically in this country. Even though Democrats like to pretend they do.

You completely misunderstood why bankers were given money for their mistakes.

Bankers held mortgages, which held GOVERNMENT GUARANTEES..

If the banks were allowed to collapse, the government was on the hook for tens of trillions of dollars in loans that they couldnt pay.

It was far cheaper to throw some temporary funds at the banks until the market turned around, than have the government buy up all of the failed mortgages.

The government, bailed out the government, not the bankers.

They bailed out the bankers too. That's why the bankers bonused themselves MILLIONS the following year under the premise that they "exceeded their quotas."

Guess its easy to do with tax free money.

You are truly like an infant.

Four months ago, it appeared all but certain that the White House and Democrats in Congress would succeed in overhauling the student loan business and ending government subsidies to private lenders.

But an aggressive lobbying campaign by the nation’s biggest student lenders has now put one of the White House’s signature plans in peril, with lenders using sit-downs with lawmakers, town-hall-style meetings and petition drives to plead their case and stay in business.

This game has been going on for centuries and you think its just da guberment.
The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it.

Adam Smith

I think wealthy/corporations should be punished for making these mistakes... now I guess you would be "for" punishing poor people?
