There was 7 in 2000 now there are 3. We are beating the war drums with every one of them.Coincidence? NO!

I dont think you read the whole article I quoted. And it's not that I believe NK will deliberately start a war, but Kim may miscalculate and do something that demands a response militarily by either South Korea, Japan, or the U.S. He would then have to counter and we would be engaged in a war that would be at best a Pyrrhic victory.

When Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated under the complicity of Serbian military conspirators, the political pressure for war was too great to be assuaged with the execution of those that were caught. War resulted and millions of lives were lost.

The problem is that too many times in history have miscalculations resulted in horrific wars.

Yet we forget again and again, and think that someone trying to see just how far they can go is just a bit of posturing that means nothing. Then we are shocked when war explodes.

A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are for. Military units sitting around unused are also safe, but that is not what military units are for. North Korea has a lot of them.

Read the article cited below for a wake-up about North Korea. They probably are just as capable as Russia or China in a fight against the U.S. Plus the terrain of their nation is ideally suited for defense.

N Korea Military Tactics In A War With US

North Korea is the country we should have been worried about when Bush launched the Iraq war. It has been the most dangerous country in the world for over forty years. We may obliterate them but they will still have "won" in terms of destroying a good portion of our military and economically crippling us for years to come.

What is so troubling is that for all his posturing Little Kim may make a miscalculation that results in war--and Korea has already promised "total" war. I believe them. So should you.
many of the same things you mentioned about NK and their military, were also said about iraq during the desert shield operation, and later in the initial stages of operation iraqi freedom. and both time the iraqi military fell apart like a house of cards. both militaries have one fatal flaw the US military doesnt have, and that is their command and control system. NK, like china, the old soviet union, iraq, iran, and many other militaries around the world all have a central command and control system that is quite rigid, and it hampers the effectiveness of those militaries. on the other hand the US has a flexible command and control system, which allows the various units and individuals adapt much more quickly to the ever changing conditions of combat.

How many new wars has Obama started? Your warmonger got us into two wars that we are still trying to clean up from. I am sure you are drooling at the chance to invade North Korea.

I don't know... Many questionable ideals from Imperial Japan are not forgotten...

A remilitarized Japan could become a lot scarier than North Korea; we might wake up to find a fleet of killer Gundam robots are invading us or something.

The reality of the situation is that North Korea has absolutely no chance of winning a war or effectively attacking the USA. Their weapons are inferior, their armies are hungry and the country itself is only kept together by fear and brutal repression of it's people. Even their only ally China seems frustrated with them and is trying to distance itself from the whole affair.

So why is the media trying so damn hard to scare us with NK? From the "Red Dawn" remake that features NK invading the USA to daily "We're gonna nuke you!" and "tensions rise to breaking point" headlines, it seems clear that we are being trained to think of NK in a certain way... one that makes us want to turn South Korea into an island.

More is going on than it seems here... the question is what?
The mistake you make is the assumption that the world is run by rational logical people. It is not.
People who rise to power are usually psychopaths.
Psychopaths are different from the rest of humanity and to try to use logic to explain their self-motivated agendas is impossible.

Unlike the rest of us, they have no guilt, no compassion, little or no fear, and the total belief in their own invincibility.

People like Kim and Obama do not fear nuclear war the way you and I do because they know for a fact they will be safe underground when it occurs. They also understand any kind of a exchange would be limited and cause such hysteria worldwide that concessions and peace would be sued for immediately by NATO and the rest of the world.

What the average person does not understand is that the US has limitations on what it can do if things get ugly. We can only respond in kind to any attack. We cannot turn the entire country to glass because they attack one or even two cities.

Kim would probably gladly sacrifice Pyongyang in order to take out Seoul and possibly one city in Japan at which time there would be such worldwide hysteria that people would be willing to deal with Kim as if he were a real world leader. And that my friend is what a psychopath wants more than anything... power and status.

He would be alive, he would be a historical figure, and he would be able to win concessions from the world which now has N.Korea isolated and starving.

Anyone who thinks this situation could not turn into a hot war is deluding themselves and does not really understand the dynamics in play.
