I bet there are a lot of guys on this thread who would have happily shown a group of people how to use a condom for $5K. Big government savings. Somehow, though, I think the ultimate goal of the funding was to reward a generous campaign contribution.

This knee-jerk moronic response is exactly what I expected from the right-wing posters. According to the below link, the study was awarded in 2008, before Obama was elected.
Kinsey Institute researchers awarded NIH grant: IU News Room: Indiana University

Knock what you want but spending this money to educate people so we don't have unwanted children in society is money well spent.

As you already noted, it was a university cashing the check.

It was which in the big picture is why those of us who argue for a smaller government argue it. That said, the money was provided in the stimulus package after the economy went downhill.

The program shouldn't have been granted in the first place but in the end it should have been cancelled, not funded through the stimulus program.

Again, this is why Obama will not be getting a infrastructer bill.

So, according to you, we shouldn't pass a infrastructures bill, which would rebuild needed public works and put a million people back to work, because of a $400,000 study that you don't like, but is nevertheless worthwhile?

Amazing.

As has been noted and you know we could post article after article noting how the stimulus was wasted. His record on spending failures goes well beyond the stimulus also. From Solyndra to Fisker to Cash for Clunkers......he is not getting another program.

FICA increases fired a few hundred million financial analysts( shoppers aka dollar voters) so we could have this sort of thing.

I would prefer they just reduce FICA, and then the states should do it with their own charted banks with strict rules like instate projects only and then by referendum. We print money so someone can build a jumbo house, but states need to sell bonds for a bridge which a a large group of people may want repaired?

Federal funding for some tangible infrastructural where it applies must occur, but should only in the Federal jurisdiction. What however will be most sickening is that it will be done when the government is running a surplus when we can least afford it due to the high opportunity costs. It will be when people think we have money totally bewitched by their misunderstanding of national accounting under this money system. What they should do is make public finances the inverse. Potential deficits should be counted as surplus capacity while surpluses are a sign the economy has no more capacity.

So now they just leave it to the banks which are horrible central planners given the frame work they have. Print up bank credit and secure it for existing and often naturally occurring assets. Then people wonder why we have inflation in the form of stagflation. That is what happens when you print money with no product and most of the money is bank credit. Then when it goes bust it turns from "leverage" into the most substantial form , Treasuries in cash for trash.

It is amazing.

Do you mean the billions already spent for "sex eduction" has been wasted and we have to re-train all those teachers and former students?

This type of "study" is NOT what Obama promised the Stimulus was to be used for. You know, "shovel ready jobs".

Some populist hero Obama is...He is probably worse then the Republicans to his own constituency because he can screw them over while getting no flak for it. If a Republican bent over for Wall Street there would be backlash, but if Obama does it why it must be for poor little school children.
