Welcome to Star Trek.

Some might consider this not safe for work. But it was safe for a major TV network.

Star Trek tos had a number of victories before it even hit the air. The network said Spock had to go. He was too 'devilish'. Roddenberry said no, and that you couldn't have a series about space travelers without someone alien. He was supposed to be a minor character, but ended up one of the leads because viewers were immediatly fascinated with him. As he'd say'fascinating....

He also provided this wonderful way of viewing the human landscape from a little distace away and with different eyes.

Inter species marriage and hybrid children were tackled as well. Spock, himself, was half human, half Vulcan

Hollywood pushed barriers... is it really a surprise? Inter species marriage and hybrid children? Reality check.
