Well at least it may soon be a minority of the population that is paid with a pay check.

The tax code is big driver of our debt. If we are going to cut the deficit, spending in the tax code must also be trimmed or cut also.

Big business and big government are in bed with each other. That's what's got us where we are today.

The poor and middle class were not the largest benefactors of the Bush/Obama tax cuts.

The people most responsible for our deficits are the moderates. Liberals are willing to raise taxes. Cconservatives are willing to cut spending. Moderates are not willing to do either.

Perhaps the more intriguing question would be how much of the current debt could be classified as "Odious Debt"? If no one has mentioned this before, see Alexander N. Sack concept from 1927 and ask how it may be applied to the USA Gov current run up of debt i.e. how is the debt serving the needs of the people versus propping up certain interests (big banks, and corporate rent seekers).

I suggest looking at ShadowStats to see data that shows calculations for many key indicators of economic health compiled as they were historically. When the Fed stopped reporting M3 back in 2006 that was a key tip off they are trying to mask true inflation being caused by the devaluing of the dollar through massive printing.

Real inflation is much more than BLS shows because BLS doesn't calculate some of the biggest impacts to average households (Food, Transportation costs on per unit basis). Anyone who shops regularly can readily see the basket of 'foodstuffs' have increased significantly as PER UNIT cost has risen. i.e. packaging shrinks 10-25% and price stays same or package stays same and prices go up 10-35% on many standard items.
