If you are carrying in New York, Maryland, or New Jersey, plan on going to jail... There are several states that don't support the right to carry that I have stopped doing business in for that very reason. California is one as well.
California allows open carry, of certain firearms, and requires a Permit for concealed carry. I was born in California and it has always been that way. The only thing new was the 1989 Los Angeles County Gun Ban. That turned me into a criminal overnight, simply because of the type of firearms I had legally purchased in California years before. There was no grandfather clause. I had three choices:
Turn my legally purchased, but now banned, firearms into the police;
Remain a criminal and hope law enforcement never finds out; or
Leave the State of my birth, and take my firearms with me.
That explains why I have lived in Alaska for the last 22 years.

Thank you for your service and I agree whole heartedly with you.
Gotta spread some rep around before giving you sugar again.lol
I transported to several correction facilities for overtime pay because one of the Sheriff's depts I worked for had a fairly low salary and that really helped me out finacially..imo you guys have a much more difficult job maintaining your safety on a minute to minute basis than I had..I brought them to you guys and you kept them in line...for that I thank YOU for your service because I know it is not an easy job and your wits have to be sharp nonstop to come home uninjured at night.
I'd like to know where all these anti-gun control cops are. All the ones I know (dozens if not 100's) are very pro-gun control (up to and including civilian confiscation) including all the ones I hunt with.

The latest California legislation would have turned you into a criminal yet again... You made a wise choice.

It would appear that you are right.

Damn. I never thought they would go that far. I did a lot of hunting for deer around Lake Cachuma, and wild boar hunting on Catalina Island. I guess those days are gone.
good post, to be fair there are some police that dont agree. i for one agree with your post.
i think the terrible thing about gun bans is that they are selective. they leave portions of the population unarmed and unprotected, usually with disasterous results.
