As I have stated repeatedly, it all depends on where you perform your polling. If you poll Maryland, you will get the anti-gun result you want. In fact, pretty much ALL the NorthEastern states will give you those results (if you avoid rural areas).
If you poll Montana, the results will be VERY different. The same goes for the rest of the "core" Western states. The "Left Coast" of course, will be different, especially in Feinstein-land and Pelosi-land.
In fact, some polls show that when the rank and file police officers are asked the same questions that were asked of their Chiefs, the results are quite different. The rank and file does NOT agree with what the Chiefs have to say! When the County Sheriff and his deputies are asked, the results are usually firmly on the side of civilian gun owners!
It all depends on who you ask, and how the questions are worded.
I would just like to say that PA and NH are the exceptions. My state has some of the most lax gun laws in the country, as well as New Hampshire. It is int he interests of the PA Democratic Party to not touch gun laws in my state, lest they want to commit political suicide. We're a Northeastern state with a Midwestern attitude
Well it's police one news of course, the author Doug Wyllie isn't even a police officer, that's not a requirement to take a suvey but how did all the major outlets miss "the most comphrensive survey ever".
Would love to hear the details of how the survey was completed for 15,000 police officers, most police officers I met are pro-gun control.
You and I have met with similar results.
I am beginnning to think that it is regional.
You are in the NYC area, and I am in the LA area.
The people who have talked about cops who support open or concealed carry have been from Texas, Nevada, and states other than the liberal media capitals of the left and right coasts.
I took this off something called police magazine. Comments by mostly police officers (I think) regarding an officer stopping an individual who was openly carrying. Apparently a number of these officers weren't happy that the officer didn't take more investigative action. Not all officers favor open carry. But this is a far cry from "gun control."
I do however agree that the open carry philosophy is BS especially with the fact that they don’t have to show ID. You could use any name you want and how are we to know who we are dealing with. Talk about officer safety. As for the gun, yes it could also be stolen or an illegal firearm. The fact that these advocates of open carry openly display their weapons and generally have a fully loaded magazine again is BS. You could have any type of person out there who is using this as a cover in order to gain some type of advantage against LEO's or the general public.
As for the camera, remember, bad guys use them to document their wrong doings. They need to get rid of open carry and for those who want to carry, legally, run them through a similar CCW process. One of these days some bad guy is going to see and identify an open carry advocate, know the gun isn’t or shouldn’t be loaded and take advantage of him/her. The guy in this video was obviously alone and with one hand on the camera and if he is smart the other <--> one nowhere ne(ar) the gun, a much larger target without a loaded firearm.
For the open carry advocates, it’s just a normal day and they feel it’s their right. How about training for these people? Apparently you are not required to have any type of training to openly carry, LAME! At least, if nothing else, they should have to take the same classes as CCW people.
What about citizens going about their day? How are they going to react? The rest of the law abiding people have the right to feel safe, don’t you think?
Get rid of open carry, period.

There are quite a few interesting and conflicting opinions among these police officers. Since this was a California situation, I thought another great comment was by this officer:
Quote:
- Differentworld - We know how that stop would have ended in New York, 42 shots fired with 19 hits. follow by "yo son, what's your name?"

Then why has senator Toomey from PA's ratings increased while Ayotte's (NH) decreased, both republicans.

I see it more as a divide between rural areas vs city/suburban although not consistently.

I haven't been keeping up with the whole gun control wedge issue, so I've no idea of Toomey and Ayotte's situation. What has Toomey said that his ratings have gone up?

Senator Toomey (R) and Manchin (D) (WV) sponsored the bill for background checks, Ayotte voted against.

Most likely his increased polling results came from southeast PA, which is the most liberal part of the state. My region overwhelmingly voted for him and is pro-gun with no changes except in Harrisburg. We also have a lot of grabbers moving in from NJ and MD in the past 10 years
