PoliceOne's Gun Control Survey: 11 key lessons from officers' perspectives

Bottom Line Conclusions
Quite clearly, the majority of officers polled oppose the theories brought forth by gun-control advocates who claim that proposed restrictions on weapon capabilities and production would reduce crime.

In fact, many officers responding to this survey seem to feel that those controls will negatively affect their ability to fight violent criminals.

Contrary to what the mainstream media and certain politicians would have us believe, police overwhelmingly favor an armed citizenry, would like to see more guns in the hands of responsible people, and are skeptical of any greater restrictions placed on gun purchase, ownership, or accessibility.

The officers patrolling America’s streets have a deeply-vested interest — and perhaps the most relevant interest — in making sure that decisions related to controlling, monitoring, restricting, as well as supporting and/or prohibiting an armed populace are wise and effective. With this survey, their voice has been heard.

*********************

Going against popular thoughts and opinions, the rank and file and majority of police officers DO NOT believe in banning guns. Moreover, they are FOR an armed populace. This study was completed by police officers and other law enforcement officials. All of them vetted for their credentials.

Because people who already understand reality dont' need to post. Gun grabbing *******s are purposefully avoiding their eyes to the truth.

As someone that has worked in the CJ system my whole life, gun control only affects the law abiding and not the criminals. That's just a fact.

It will not keep guns out of criminal hands as they do not care about laws.

Makes sense to me. If armed citizens can defend themselves against home invasion, theft, robbery, rape, and murder, then the police are NOT needed to clean up the mess, file reports, or make arrests. Also, there would be less need for lawyers and judges for those cases.

As a former LEO my opinion is "I wish it was federal law that every person without a felony, mental illness or domestic violence CONVICTION BY JURY had the right to conceal carry and all states be required to pass a form of NO DUTY TO RETREAT to continue to receive federal funding"...its a basic human right to protect yourself and I for one am going to do it regardless of what some arsehole politician says.

I'd like to know where all these anti-gun control cops are. All the ones I know (dozens if not 100's) are very pro-gun control (up to and including civilian confiscation) including all the ones I hunt with.
