You really shouldn't debate things you don't know. The bill linked in the article does not make it mandatory for insurance companies to provide fertility treatments -- it makes it mandatory for the insurance company to abide by anti-discrimination laws (ie: not denying people coverage on the basis of sexual orientation).

Yeah, sorry I misspoke.

It is already California law that insurance must provide some fertility treatments against their will.

So adopt a kid or choose to be with a person of the opposite sex instead

Considering that text from the bill was posted (by me), yes, anyone intelligent and capable of basic American English would say so. The bill doesn't say "GIVE GAY PEOPLE FERTILITY TREATMENTS", it says that fertility treatments are to be covered without discrimination.

Doesn't matter. The level of coverage is agreed upon by the company and subscriber. The fact that the coverage cannot be different for different based upon race, gender, orientation, etc, etc, etc is what the bill is focusing on.

So please, baw some more about how discrimination against homosexuals is being chipped away.

That's something a lot of people seem to forget. Decadent Rome = Powerful. Christian Rome = When it fell.
I'm not even a Christian and even I find the constant attacks the left wage against Christianity to be petty and stupid. No one even brought up religion to begin with but can't pass up an opportunity to bash Christianity I suppose. Gotta show everyone how "tolerant" you are.

Look, if any ruling power places a horse or any animal into high office, then said power was already on it's way to falling. Christianity probably played a role according to some theories but given all the other factors involved, Christianity was probably one of the least likely causes. But do carry on bashing Christianity, I'm sure it makes you feel "smart".

Now, there are plenty of theories on homosexuality playing a role in the fall of ancient empires like Rome and Greece and it even had a role in Nazi Germany. But I am sure to even entertain such theories would be bigotry and hate. This is one thing I don't understand about liberals, you can ridicule and question other people faiths and beliefs, stuff that they base their souls on (except Islam, of course) ."LOL, you're an idiot for believing in your sky daddy", and that's all fine and dandy, even encouraged, but if you take that same scorn to any of their beliefs, well, you're a hateful bigot. Funny that.

I'm an atheist. I do not mock people for believing in a sky-daddy or anything remotely similar & I discourage that type of behavior when I see it. With that said there is a major difference between dealing with hateful comments from people & being marginalized by your government/responding to people who promote discrimination.

Lol and folks wonder why I'm so against gay marriage even though it may not affect me. This nonsense just degrades society into the realm of the absurd.

BTW is there nothing the Left draws the line at?

Get over it. We can and do have children.
I thought that Gay people were having surrogate/artificial insemination kids. I had no idea they could adopt. Who made that decision?

How the hell can we be debating Gay Marriage but I hardly knew about this Gay adoption thing? To me, those babies rights are being completely trampled for the sake of political correctness and gay peoples need to have a family.

Does anyone care about the adopted children? What if a baby boy was born to be a hard ass athlete but has to grow up with a pair of dudes for parents who think that a meaningful activity for him is visiting the art museum followed up by a walk through a rose garden or something lame like that. When he should be going hunting and fishing and playing football.

Translation: I didn't read the actual bill to see that it's about being non-discriminatory in regards to insurance coverage. But because it mentions homosexuals and something good for them, I abhor it by default and assign it to gay marriage - another indicator that I failed to read the bill, seeing as how marital status is also listed as something that cannot be discriminated against.

I get what you are saying, but look at this thread, what does Christianity have to do with this? And yet it was bashed somehow anyway.

On a thread around Christmas time, in these very City Data forums, a thread about a family being persecuted for celebrating Christmas in some middle east country and the first thing liberals do is bash Christians. I kid you not, on a thread about Christians being persecuted at the hand of Islamist and the liberals somehow reasoned that its those crazy Christians we have to be on a look out for.

My point is that alot of the attacks on Christians are unprovoked.

I don't think anyone's fertility treatment or penis problems or orgasm issues, etc, should ever be covered by insurance.
It's not the point of insurance.
