Over half of Colorado's elected sheriffs are planning a lawsuit to overturn the state's recently-passed gun restrictions.

The Denver Post reports that 37 or Colorado's 62 elected sheriffs will file the lawsuit within the next few weeks to overturn background checks for private gun sales and a law limiting ammunition magazines to 15 rounds. The laws are scheduled to take effect July 1.

Good. I figure its got a pretty good chance to get overturned...politicians have a big target on their back now for the next elections. Hopefully someone posts a list of the traitors to the constitution before the next election so the people know who to vote out.

Yep. CO has become a spanner in the gears for the gun control crowd. CT and NY are going off, more or less, to Federal satisfaction, as test cases. COs pro firearms crowd isn't going to get pushed around like that. Native. Coloradans come down, solidly, pro gun. Support for this new ban stems from liberal transplants, an invasive species, many of them from CA. Western states, like CO, have strong shooting traditions. Unlike NYC and CT, there is no gun registry in place to make confiscation easier, and the pro shooting folks are fed up with transplants trying to trample their rights. Kudos!!

Trying to mash CO, under unjust gun laws, is just a bridge to far. The LE folks, on point here, would be the ones tasked with enforcing this insanity, and they want no part of it. I surely understand their trepidation. Having to trample their friends and neighbors rights to satisfy a bunch of transplanted wackaloons is a pill they can't swallow. Great work! Seeing these folks stand up for the right thing gives me a good feeling.

I'll be stunned if the NRA actually allows any of these things to go to court. They own enough politicians to make sure these things never go to court. They can't afford it ... things might not go the way they want. Their best strategy is to prevent honest and untampered judicial review because they know they're in the wrong.

WTF

Do you have any idea how many current cases are being brought against current gun control regulations across the nation by many gun rights groups including the NRA. SCOTUS will most likely take another gun case next session. Educate yourself before speaking.

After Columbine and the Aurora theater shooting I applaud Colorado's politicians for finally doing something about it. How many more massacres must this country experience before something is done?

How are these new laws going to prevent murder? If these laws were in place would they have prevented Columbine or Aurora? Please remember we had an AWB and magazine ban during Colubine.

No kidding man! The post you were responding to, here, is just...WOW!. LMAO!. These hoplophobes just seem to feel so....vindicated. Like there is just no arguing with them. Tossing out their opinions, as undisputed facts, and anyone who disagrees with them is just wacko trailer trash.

Tbe outright hatred, bigotry and overt contempt for we firearms owners is getting hard to stomach. I have noticed, that the more calm and rational I try to be, in discourse with these people, the worse their attitudes get. It's like they view an attempt to present a reasoned rebuttal is a sign of weakness, and the poop just flys. (Sigh)

The won't, no one with half a brain can possibly think they would. But they make libbies feel all warm and fuzzy because they "did something".

The AWB is irrelevant as it did not apply to the weapons used during Columbine as the one weapon that fell under the AWB was manufactured before the ban took effect and thus was grandfathered in.

3 of the other 4 guns (1 rifle, 2 shotguns) were legally purchased by a classmate of theirs at a gun show... since they were not purchased from a federally licensed dealer, no background check was required and thus it was not considered a straw purchase. Columbine just reinforces what 90% of Americans support: background checks on ALL gun transactions, commercial and private.
