In the real world, hitting someone for shooting their mouth off is often called an assault and is often also considered a criminal offense. Adults cannot go willy nilly hitting folks because they are drunk/angry and have words.
I agree. We are on the same page here. I'm not saying it's ok to hit someone. But I'm also saying that people get hit all the time for shooting their mouths off, wrong or not. It's wrong no matter the sex of the person involved. Women don't have immunity in this. It's wrong if a man gets hit, as well as when a woman gets hit. Sex has nothing to do with it. That's where I disagree with the OP's premise. It's wrong, period; sex is not a factor at all.
I told my son there's only one excuse to hit a girl. When she's playing on the opposing hockey team, and you don't have time to check if the player has boobies before you slam him/her into the boards.
Well then, except for when your son is playing hockey, he'll be a good prospect for being an abused guy. The 'never hit a girl' rule for guys is passe. Girl violence is no longer the old-fashioned hair-pulling and scratching. Many girls can throw a punch or pound your head on the ground as well as guys can.
Self-defense against guys and women is ok by me, Not abuse or beating beyond what's necessary to stop a physical attack. Hitting back ? Yep.
Hmmm. It always makes me curious to see threads with women bashing other women. According to Dale, they were 'screeching' in the workplace. Probably her male counterparts were saying the same thing about her - she just didn't know it.
And then we have the tired on ancedote about how female employer are so awful.
I've hired and supervised both men and women and the men were every bit as bad about gossiping and complaining.
Some women just don't like other women.
Don't think we said men didn't gossip....I'm around construction sites and men do gossip.
The problem with women we tend to not like other women it comes natural.....
It takes a special woman to have a another woman as your friend.
Even if she did throw a water bottle, he shouldn't have punched her. Why didn't he call security and inform them that she assaulted him? That would have been far better than to stoop to her level.
It wasn't just a punch he was slamming her.....they had people pulling him off of her. He could've been the bigger person and filed assault charges against her. In that situation he had plenty of witnesses and would have come out on the winning side. Now it's just all over the internet.....
Violence towards women is never okay? While I don't believe his reaction was acceptable, I don't agree with the former statement either.
In HS I had a tall, well built teacher whose husband was an even bigger bodybuilder. She told us one day they had an agreement (I don't recall why the conversation came up). He promised to never hit her so long as she never hit him. However, the day she did, he told her he'd hit her like he would anyone else who hit him.
For whatever reason that's stuck with me for 20 years and I agree with it. Hitting isn't acceptable but I don't believe a woman has a free pass to hit someone (male or female) just because she's a woman.
It's a strange phenomena in our society. Women want total equality...except in the areas they want special consideration for because they are women.
If you hit like a man then be prepared to be hit like a man. Period...
