Good question, I should ask the government for an itemized bill on where every dollar I give them goes.

From your posts you seem to think 100%.

There's many more taxes than just Federal Income Tax.

Sorry, I am typing on my phone and for a general post, I didn't feel the need to type out everything our tax dollars go to. But if you would like to write up that list, you are more than welcome to.

Then why do you think you have to repave your own road due to less paying Federal Income Tax ?

FYI, many states divert their gas tax money to fill shortfalls in other budget areas.
Gas tax covers more than 50% of DOT budgets and you have taxes going to national and federal agencies to be spent.

19% is significantly higher than the majority of the middle class pays.

Let alone the 47% who paid no income tax today. Or the crowd on EITC for whom tax day is welfare day.

It's a figure of speech, a metaphors if you will.

In my state, the interstate is being by-passed with private toll roads that are much better to travel on and you can go 85-90 mph.
Using the rainy day funds, they are buying them and making them toll free.

All you need to do is reduce your "taxable income".
That's what Federal INCOME tax is all about.

The really rich don't have much TAXABLE INCOME and that's why they pay so low.

That's why the middle class are always hit the hardest, they live and depend on paychecks which is TAXABLE INCOME.

That's all Obama paid, his effective tax rate was only 18%. Meanwhile he complains that people in his tax bracket don't pay their fair share.
