I remember reading or hearing the 48 hour limit, too. The 48 hours is the time period for the exception that they are relying upon......they can question him within that 48 hours because there is a concern that there might be other plans or bombs out there which are to be detonated, etc.
Don't think there is any unlawful detention in this situation. The suspect is in the hospital as a result of serious injuries...he can't just get out of bed and leave....and I'm sure law enforcement has a hold on him with the hospital, meaning the hospital can't release him without notifying the police....he's there to stay for awhile.

I read he's under armed guard, (which makes sense). I tried to find where I read that, but couldn't. This alludes to it, but doesn't specifically say it. It also says he has a "throat injury".
He may have destroyed his larynx (voice box), have brain damage, etc. We're not getting real medical details and it's probably way too early to tell anyway. There is no doubt a significant amount of swelling, due to the local tissue damage alone.

All that Allah Akbar means is "God is Great"
The other posts are all recent from an influx of visitors in the last few days... not friends/acquaintances. Most of his own posts are very mundane.
Just wondering what you think about when he was arrested....do you think they arrested him when they got him off the boat? That photo of him initially on the ground on his back looked like he was handcuffed with his hands behind his back. Can police handcuff someone without arresting them?
I really don't know if they can handcuff you but I do believe they can before they arrest you.
This story is getting wider and wider. Now we have the older punch drunk brother who had trained to compete internationally...and the younger follow along brother...Why do I hear Marlon Brando's voice saying "I could have been a somebody - I could have been a contender" This whole thing reads like a damned movie...Truth is stranger than fiction.
I don't doubt he is a Muslim. But what he himself posted is typical teenage stuff, there's really nothing shocking or odd.
