I see many of you say things about "voting against my own best interests". Since liberals seem to know what other people's best interests are I'd like some help determining what mine should be. As a conservative I'd like to start voting for my own self interests, please help me.

You have a job so voting conservative is in your best interest.

I guess I could be more specific.

I support right to work legislation and support anything that lessens the control of labor unions. I detest the corruption that is always found at the core of any labor union. I firmly believe that labor unions are for people who want inflated pay in return for a lack of skill or value.

I've been told by a few liberals that this specifically means that I'm "voting against my own best interests."

Imagine you were Chuck Noland in Cast Away and you needed to provide for yourself. In your own best interest, what would you do?

If you were a liberal, voting for more welfare and government handouts would be in your best interest.

I would do exactly what I do now but apparently that is completely wrong according to a lot of liberals, especially those here on CD.

While I agree with you, that's not the topic of this thread and I'm certainly not a liberal nor do I hold many if any liberal viewpoints or beliefs.

I would like to know how I can "vote for my own self interests", as a conservative. It seems to me like any time I vote for what I feel are my own best interests liberals label me things like racists, bigot or intolerant. There must be a way for a conservative like myself to vote for their own best interests without offending liberals.
