What a bull...FAA does a lame job of handling air traffic and now congress fast tracks millions of dollars but on the other hand middle class families were screwed when payroll taxes were raised by 2% and it likely impacted people who were living on the edge(paycheck to paycheck) and yet congress did nothing!!

It's been federal policy to not cut funding to safety and vital, security functions of the federal government, and the FAA is one agency excluded from the effects of a government shutdown, and here we are cutting a small percentage of funding, and Obama is purposely going out of his way to cause disruptions with these furloughs.
The GAO found hundreds of billions in saving Obama could implement, and more then comply with the sequester, but he'd rather just cause pain, and pretend he did not have 18 months to plan where these sequester cuts would come from.
The report, a summary of which was obtained by Fox News, was mandated by Congress the last time it raised the debt limit in January 2010. In its analysis of federal agencies, the GAO found 33 areas with "overlap and fragmentation."
The Defense Department takes a number of hits in the report. The GAO found many instances of duplication in the sprawling agency. The use of "urgent need" funds have been expanded, GAO found, with "multiple places for a warfighter to submit" such requests. GAO found that the Pentagon has "no tracking mechanism" for these funds, resulting in an estimated $77 billion in overlap since 2005.
I have been wondering the same thing. The cuts in my state were to small installations but the slow down was affecting LAX. Could it be all air traffic controllers were given special instructions?
Makes me think us hard working folk should "unionize" and have a "work slow-down" (all go exempt on our payroll taxes from June to September) to get the attention of congress.

Again. I call this BS..if FAA is exempt to begin with then how did congress approve the budget cut?
I think FAA deliberately or at the least was inefficient in maintaining the air ways...when middle class is expected to live with budget cuts so should every federal agency...

Middle class families weren't screwed. They should have never lowered the payroll tax to begin with they should have raised it if they really want to save SS. Actually the ones who are getting screwed are the children who will be paying double to keep it going.
Nobody is planning on paying off the debt anyway so spend away. LIberals who claim to care about the children continue to screw them over on a daily basis with their policies.
This is exactly why they did what they did when they cut.
Cut what directly affects citizens/voters and the backlash to Congress will make them act.
It worked, didn't it ?
There is no intention in DC of ever cutting. And if they don't cut then that means they need increased taxes.
The FedGov spends over $8 billion a year to maintain empty buildings.
A cut like that wouldn't even be noticed by any taxpayers.
The "cuts" were actually cuts to budget increases. I've still not seen anyone explain who those cuts to increases caused these furloughs and the like. It's all a smokescreen. Obama is punishing the citizens for whatever reason. People are too dumb to realize it though and fall into the blame the other side game.
I also predicted that the big major airports would be the first hit to get the most impact and outrage.
Wonder how long the wait is at the Murtha airport due to furloughs ?
I wish I were as lucky at picking lottery tickets though.
the FAA spent millions of dollars in "Nextgen", which is wrecking havoc on our once tranquil neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens with planes flying as low as 3000 feet, every 30 seconds apart, all day long, constant. One after the other after the other......
The FAA redesigned the air space without even conducting an environmental study as to the noise and fuel pollution it is giving hundreds of thousands of tax paying citizens. Planes flying over such dense metropolis' as Brooklyn and Queens is criminal.
We now have a constant roar of these planes all day long, every 30 seconds apart...to me there is no shortage of flights.
please, the FAA sucks.
