Well, the illegal aliens and their supporters have won. The illegal aliens came here hoping to remain in the United States, and now Congress is readying a plan to let them stay in the United States. Congratulations, you successfully gamed the system.

Republicans, who had been the only hope of enforcing the law, are caving in like beach sand at high tide. Some of them are trying to save face by announcing that "This isn't amnesty because citizenship is not guaranteed", as though the illegal aliens gave two hoots about citizenship. The whole battle has always been over the simple question of whether they would get deported or not. And now it looks like they will get the amnesty they wanted: They won't be deported for breaking U.S. law and coming here or remaining illegally.

Do you Republicans think you're fooling anybody with your prattle about "Look at all the requirements they have to meet, citizenship isn't guaranteed, this isn't really amnesty in the strict sense of the word"? If these people had wanted citizenship, then coming or staying illegally is the LAST thing they would have done, since that would shut off any chance of legality. The idea that they could get citizenship after breaking the laws here, was insane by any rational measure (just not by Democrat measure), and they knew it. They were merely hoping against hope that they could pressure the U.S. Govt into letting them stay in ANY fashion, and not have to go back to their original countries.

And now they've won. The U.S. govt will let them stay, merely making noises about citizenship they didn't care about anyway. While the people who respected our law, obeyed it, applied for legal visas, filled out all the forms, and waited patiently, will be kept out.

You KNOW Democrats must be at work, and Republicans bleating in full retreat, when you find fifteen million lawbreakers being let in while all the people who obeyed the law are kept out.

Nice going, Republicans. Thanks for doing your job so well and upholding the laws you were sworn to uphold. (I won't bother addressing Democrats, whom everyone knew had no intention of upholding the law).

You Republicans might have just managed to throw away your chances in the 2016 Presidential election, by trying to act like Democrats. Again.

The illegals do want easy citizenship. They know that once they're citizens, they will get social security checks when they retire and also can bring in more of their relatives. Citizens can bring in siblings besides adult children with their spouses and children and parents.

How many will pay this 2000 dollar ticket disguised as a fine for starters.

This amnesty will simply delay citizenship by one generation.

If they don't get it, their kids (born on U.S. soil for free in hospital emergency rooms and sent for free to American schools) will.

Same end result.

Break American law, and if you wait long enough and hide among enough other people who have also broken it, Americans will give up and turn their resources over to you.

You don't need tanks, planes, guns, and bombs to invade and take over America. Just a penis and a lot of patience. Plus wimps in office who won't enforce their own laws.

Illegal aliens have plenty of both.

Jeez, I'm actually agreeing with you. The GOP could have said, you want in, okay, but no hope of citizenship ever. Green cards for all as long as you pay taxes and social security, but forget ever being able to vote. And they didn't. Rubio just killed his 2016 chances and the GOP is about to face millions of newly registered Democrats.

Wouldn't have made any difference, as I demonstrated in the OP.

Most illegals don't care about citizenship. They just want to come here and stay here without having to worry about getting kicked out.

And Rubio, Graham and the rest of the RINOS just gave them exactly what they wanted.

The illegals have won.

Now the people whose only qualification is that they broke oour immigration laws, will be allowed in, while the people who obeyed those laws will be kept out.

GREAT plan.

I wish I cared, but I really don't.

Repeal the social safety-net and birthright citizenship, stop our interventionist policy all over the world that pisses everyone off, and stop our protectionist economic policy. And there is almost no point in having borders anyway.

Basically, if you believe in free markets and free trade, then free immigration is actually a good thing. I mean, if the Chinese have cheap labor in China producing goods, and thus all of our jobs are being off-shored to China. Wouldn't it be better to have free immigration of Chinese people to America, doing the same low-wage jobs, but spending their money here?

Now nothing but dreamy lunkheads replying.

Symptomatic of the basic problem, probably.
