Glad you can admit that. Oh, & it's "educated". Or maybe you pronounce it "edumacated, mmmkaaaay".

ok, then lets look at the topic:

"Obama Refusing to Send WH Delegation to Thatcher's Funeral"

nearly everyone agrees that statement is false. the WH did send a delegation consisting of schultz, baker, susman and stephenson. you, butkus, are the one conflicting opinion. you believe that obama merely asked them ( and most likely the state department picked up the tab for travel expenses ) but did not send them.

so my question for you, butkus, is this:

exactly what would a president have to do to send a delegation in your opinion?

Are you always such a drama queen?

Were you this outraged when Bush didn't attend Lord Callaghan's funeral in 2005?

Was Bush "nothing less than treasonous" for not attending?

Or are there a different set of rules for this president?

If the President requests that someone go there on his behalf, and they accept, then the President can be said to have sent them. Your quibble is ridiculous.
And, seriously, if the funeral was such a huge deal, and if Bush Sr. couldn't attend because of his age and health, why couldn't Junior have attended as a representative of his father?

The whining and gnashing of teeth of the haters just gets more and more pathetic each day.

Whatever will they do come January 20, 2017?

Of course, then they will have Hillary to attack mercilessly and likely without merit for four or eight years.

I don't know much about Margaret Thatcher, but I know that JK Rowling based Dolores Umbridge off of her. If the most thoroughly detestable fictional character of all time was inspired by Thatcher, she couldn't have possibly been a good person.

It was reported early on that H.M. would not attend, which of course would have been perfectly in accordance with protocol and tradition, since the monarch usually does not attend funerals, and the Queen herself has only attended the funeral of one former PM before now (Winnie's - obviously an exception).

But ever since the business of the royal standard at the time of the death of the Princess of Wales, the Palace is very sensitive to potential public opinion missteps to do with national figures: no doubt someone at Buck House was afraid H.M.'s absence from the funeral would spin badly.
