A congressman for the Foreign Relations Committee...not exactly a major kudo to Chavez or his family. The reps to the Thatcher funeral were major American political figures from her era, and are perfect reps.

I don't see what all the uproar is about.

Third world dictatorships don't send delegates to funerals of their enemies.

Lightbulb Obama Refusing to Send WH Delegation to Thatcher's Funeral

I think the protocol is for the administration to send representatives to the services for heads of state who have died in office. Thatcher had been out for over 20 years, making her a very former PM.

In any case, Obama's cousin Dick Cheney is there and that alone should be a tremendous comfort.

Honestly, the Iron Lady would not have wanted someone from this administration there anyway.

She would be pleased....and would have something witty to say.

Obama too busy partying at the White House to care about someone dying and sending someone to go to a funeral.. his golf schedule is weighing him down. All those social events he has to attend with all those hollywood people.. gets exhausting and he needs to crash at the White House than to do all those appropriate things. Poor guy....

Good point. "Thank God for my enemies! I'd hate to have such people as friends..."
